Remember when go had 10 or 20 dollar one way tickets?
So, the cheapest I can find are 75 one way on go, or hawaiian.
Anyone know of a cheaper way with out burning 8,500 miles each way on Hawaiian? I gotta go back and forth to Oahu and Hilo about 4-5 times.

Actually they were as low as $9.00 on Aloha one way. Those were the days! $75.00 one way is a bargain these days. I'm sure the airlines would be charging more if they could....but their planes are not filling up like they usually do because people don't have the money.

Actually, the cheapest were some "anniversary" fares of $1.00 on Go! for a couple of days a few years ago. Hawaiian Airlines is implementing a new system and effective September 1, 2011, members will only earn HawaiianMiles equal to the actual distance flown instead of the current 500.
(Pualani Platinum, Pualani Gold, Premier Club, and Hawaiian Airlines Visa Cardholders will be exempt from this change.)

Yup, just got that email. They essentially doubled the trips it takes to get an inter island tix.
Gee, move HA jobs to the Philippines. Change the miles and make it take more trips. Have to get a Hawaiian Airlines Visa or spend money on the upgraded miles member. Do everything possible otherwise to tell us we are not valued customers.
How about I do this? I get a United Airlines CC - and fly non-stop on UA - ITO or KOA to West Coast. Dont need a $75 OW Inter island flight. Non-stop with nicer schedules - just about same pricing if you check around. Have a nice day HA.

For the record, Hawaiian Air did move jobs to the Philippines--and India; it saved them lots of money and helped them escape the fate of Aloha (a very poorly managed airline). Normally I'd be outraged by a company outsourcing jobs to other countries, but the agreement with the union was that there would be no lay-offs, so no jobs were actually "lost". All HA employees who worked in reservations and accounting are now guaranteed jobs for life. I know many of them who now work in the airport as agents, others are flight attendants.
Hawaiian Air, unlike most carriers around the world, are actually growing and making money. The sum total of their outsourcing is it allowed them to live to fight another day, and has actually translated to more jobs as they expand into Asia.

hubby got an offer from hawaiian for a coupon book. 6 or 12 one way fare books. you might check their website, dont know if you have to have signed up for their frequent flyers miles to get the offer.

I have the Hawaiian Visa and I am signed up for their frequent flyer miles. That said, I did not receive any offer for a coupon book. How did he receive this offer? In the mail? so, it is not being offered to all the frequent flyers.

hawaiideborah, he got it via email from them, he does all his bookings on-line. he flys every week between islands.. he is not home or i would ask but it seems like he is in one of the clubs they have... thought everyone got the offer....

These employees are very likely to be making less and have worse benefits than previously.The jobs that went overseas are gone forever.
Future generations will not have these jobs available to them.
We are very lucky to have the cheap fares that are available to us!!
Check out the fares between any comparable cities on the mainland.
