Hawaiian Shore's speed bumps

Funny thing is Kahakai is a county road and turning onto Papio toward Honolulu Landing is a county road for some distance then for a few hundred feet it's private road then county road again.
It's like a tiny toll section where we have bumps instead of a booth. It's effective I now use Coastal Puna Parkway and already have gotten stink eye from people walking down the middle of that road just like Papio before. The flow goes on.

As a frequent user of Papio in that I am a Waawaa resident and as such it appears I am one of the "scum and crackheads" as referenced by someone in this thread. I find it amusing the NIMBY, parochial overtones expressed. Most of us who have begged for only a modicum of maintenance on Beach Road more or less roll with the punches on this latest insult to injury action. Since the speed bumps are obviously directed at the residents of Waawaa and those assorted "scum/crackheads" who enjoy the coastline at Honolulu Landing, I might point out that Papio is part of a county designated road and as such provides legal access to points towards Kapoho. Since one poster pointed out that our desire for a passable road must be mitigated by the fact that "we knew what we were into when we moved to Waawaa", the residents on Papio must also acknowledge that they purchased property on a designated county road and "knew what they were into" when they moved there.
And while we're at it, the "scum and crackheads" are just people fishing, picnicking and doing what people do at the shoreline. Yes there are young people drinking and smoking but is that any different from how you remember your youth? Although it is small minded and maybe even petty, frankly I don't care about your problems in Hawaiian Shores since it is obvious no one in this thread seems to recognize that the only people who are directly affected by this action are us "scum and crackheads" who live in Waawaa and recreate at Honolulu Landing. I will drive around the bumps, use alternate routes and try to organize a "blow your horn at the bumps" people's action just to reflect my disdain for your indifference for the problems other than your own.

Although I do not live in that area, I feel your pain with the speed bumps.
We have 4 of them in the less than 600 ft from our mailboxes to my house. The speed bumps have not done a good job of slowing anyone down as speeders always speed. We have lost at least 1 cat and 1 duck in the neighborhood due to speeding with speed bumps in place. Lucky it hasnt been a child yet... But what to do? I truly do not have any answers or suggestions, but if you guys figure one out - let us know! Jlooked - I am sorry someone said "crackheads and scum". We, too, know nice people - responsible people - who live in WaaWaa, but most of them come out towards 4 corners. When I have time to cruise to my friends in HB, I go through WaaWaa - it's a beautiful drive.

The issues as you stated is simple, the traffic has to go through the region somehow and the highway makes the most sense. Getting people through the highway unobstructed and with relative quickness is the goal. Nobody should have to stop 3 times on a highway, most will figure out not to and will drive an alternate route. There was no problem to began with, now its a cluster****. Had two slammed civics drag racing down my street just last night. The speed bumps are obnoxious, completely inefficient and the selfish act of a few short sighted individuals. The negative impacts are many, I am sure the individuals involved never discussed or cared about possible negative impacts. I am sure they did not have a back up plan to remove them if something went wrong. This is how liberty is taken away from you. Government puts this **** in place and then people forget about the time before it was completely ****ed and accept completely ****ed as normal. I wont forget, I am angry at the shear stupidity and ignorance and don't intend to live with it. Neither should anyone else have to live with it. I would like any of the pro-speed bump people to actually respond to any of my posts without bringing up the old president(again I don't care.) I am sure at this point they might be reading and if they are human having some minor regrets nagging at their heart, of course their instinct will be to continue fighting though they are wrong. The president could do a lot to clear here name by undoing this action without the rest of us having to fight her. Then maybe we can forget about the coincidence of a park and speedbumps going in to benefit herself. Or the stupidity and selfish ignorance can continue and I will become a very motivated person. VERY MOTIVATED. Might be easier to get the president changed then the speed bumps, and I will go that way if I have to. Do the right thing, admit you are wrong and suck it up. If not, at least present any decent argument or it will make my job much easier.

I am so not surprised that this thread has come to this. I live in HSRE and anytime ANY subject regarding or having to do with the BOD comes up, there are hateful, spiteful words slung back and forth and without fail it always comes to a terrible argument.
I don't know why it's like this but it always has been. There are so many new posters on this particular thread that it seems they register just to jump into this mud puddle. We stopped going to board meetings and listening to the bickering years ago. I hope you all can find a little peace of mind somewhere in all of this.[ ]Blessings, Carrie

Since government of course moves so slow and it will probably take a year to get the bumps removed, maybe a little civil disobedience is in order. I think that since these speed bumps have been put here for "their" safety, it would also be safe to honk your horn loudly every time you go over the speed bumps. That way they can hear that they are working and that everyone is safe. Loud horn honking will keep people alert! Safe!
