Plant it Hawaii Sale
#11
I didn't know they wouldn't accept credit cards at the sale, so ended up with only two "finds", one a mango that is supposed to like the wet at this elevation, and a lilikoi that has cantaloupe like fruit (harder outside, bigger? I already forgot, but seemed good at the time). I also got a black sapote from Royal Palm Enterprises (they were at the BIAN sale). We hit the arbor day sale in town (DNR?) and picked up a few things. Had a lot of fun seeing all the goodies available. Peggy

Peg, we have the giant lilikoi (aka Passiflora quadrangularis aka Giant Granadilla) It is a far different fruit than the standard lilikoi, very thick edible rind-much like watermelon rind, the seeds are in sleeve-like compartments & the juice is more like lemon juice than the thicker lilikoi pulp. it takes longer to take off, but when it does, it goes crazy.... oh, and some of our neighbors ask us for leaves... I think they use it for a tea, much like the bitter melon tea....but not sure...

Carey, do you have any giant lilikoi seeds to swap or sell?

We do not have seeds right now, mine are just budding (usually fruit in spring for me, in Keaau....)

I will take cuttings & see if anything roots....

Carey,
Mahalo. I got a Jamaican lilikoi on my 2nd trip to PIH (I forgot my carefully prepared list on the 1st trip) but they had already sold out the few giants they started with. I also forgot to try to find a nutmeg tree - bummer.

Just came back. Alittle disappointed.... I bought 5 trees but I was looking for about ten. The variety just wasn't as large as the last couple of years.

Curious as to what you were looking for that they didn't have.
