This is by far the loudest Thunderstorm I've ever been in. Seems like it's been sitting over my house and not moving for hours. I'm in lower HPP. The only bright spot is that because its noon....all the lightning in the sky is subdued.

Kahoe Homesteads... it's been going on since about 10:00, and we've had at least 4 really really close strikes!

Another line of storms moving in.
Storm is fierce north of Hilo too. Thunder and lightning for hours, very dark here.
Seems to be broad coverage. So far so good on the power, but we unplugged our major appliances because the power was varying so much.
We have a battery backup surge protector thingie for one computer, and it has a light that flickers when the current is uneven. As I understand it from Sears appliance techs have told me in the past, that's not good for appliances like the newer electric ranges that run off motherboards.

I just heard on the news that lightning went through a roof in HPP today and blew out the windows in the bedroom. The man said thank God his son was not in his room. Does anyone know about this? I didn't know lightning went through roofs. I thought it only hits something that it's attracted to, like a power pole or a tree. Now I am freaked out. The news will talk about it tonight at 10 on channel 7.
