Helco meter reading mistake
#11
I have talked to Richard too. Nice reasonable guy.

I don't think being out of the country matters. People often get house-sitters or have people stay, so electricity continues to be used. All that matters is the actual meter reading, which was wrong, and you documented it. Really, I would be surprised if it is hard to get it fixed.

On a related subject...during last meter reading it was raining and the guy opened our gate to drive closer. When our gate is closed, it means the dog is out. Luckily, this particular time the dog had come inside. I REALLY don't want the HELCO guy opening the gate to drive up the drive. The dog will bolt. I've thought of putting a sign on the gate not to drive thru - I don't mind neighbors opening to walk up to the house, but a whole car coming thru is just asking for problems. Has anyone had special instruct's for HELCO readers? Our dog's goal in life is to wreak havoc with those tasty chickens next door.

We just informed HELCO that we have dogs and do not want the meter reader coming onto the property. We read the meter ourselves and send in the numbers.

Can anyone explain how to check my bill?
I would like to go out to meter when I see the Helco employee come to read it,and check their accuracy.
Thank you

Go to Google, put in Helco how to read your meter.

Helco has a illustration of the five dials and easy to follow directions on how to take a reading.

We keep our gate locked so read our meter monthly and send it in.

Just called. Talked to Richard. He looked at our bill and the first thing he said was "Wow..What happened". I told him the situation...gave him the current meter numbers....and he said the corrected bill will be sent today. Easy as that.
