how the hell is he a danger to the community? according to HI law, an assault suspect cannot be denied bail. i'm no big fan of pot, but something very wrong here.

It's not a Hawaii State crime he's charged with so he's not subject to Hawaii State detention guidelines. He was charged with federal crimes and subject to federal detention guidelines. He's in federal prison not State prison. That's clearly mentioned in the article.

I have a guess but its that Roger Christie's case eventually makes it to the Supreme Court someday.

Horrible treatment...there needs to be some noise about this kind of treatment happening right under our noses. The squeaky wheel and all of that...

Its time to end the drug war, that would really help stamp out the smoking of drain cleaner in Puna.

Bob Orts, I know it's a Federal crime and he is under Federal law. I only mention bail in Hawaii as a comparison. The guy who attacked his elderly neighbor got bail. But thanks for pointing that out.

I think the federal government has shown time and again that it will and has done whatever they want....wether its torturing suspected prisoners or holding US citizens without due process....or deciding not to prosecute obvious war criminal that have held the highest public office in the usa or the white collar criminals that have robbed the taxpayer out of trillions of dollars.
