Our dog was on our property, the driver was going to fast on a newly graveled road. I do not know who you are, but I know you are not very kind.

Why was your dog not on a leash or inside your yard ?

One last little point,I am a very good driver and once raced cars,I don't think I could drive 45 mph on that road and and swerve towards someones dog and live through it!!

So you are saying someone was driving 45 mph down your driveway and hit your dog??
Big driveway !

I am not unsympathetic, I just find your story hard to believe.

Sorry to say Cwaters, this is the Punaweb of today. Lot of people on this site, now seem to be reading and waiting just to poke their finger in your eye. When my wife died (a few years ago)of breast cancer,I posted here of Cathie's passing as many did know her. The response from those here then (whether or not they knew her) help me get through. If she had just away now, I would not even think to post it here. I truly feel the those callused individuals would have posted "Had your wife lived a healthier life style she wouldn't have gotten cancer". This is why I don't post much here anymore. Between those that like to poke at you maliciously and those that have to be so "politically" correct that you need a lawyer to go over what you want to post (leastwise you be drug through the mud) makes this site hard tolerate at times.

Sorry to hear of your loss....

Well said, Royall.

Anyone with a shred of compassion and common sense would offer condolences in this situation.

As a dog lover with two of my own mutts, my heart goes out to you. So sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear for your loss Cwaters..Sad..Obie you are way out of line, there's an old saying if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. What bad energy you are emitting. Royall is right, this is why I also don't frequent or post on PW as much, due to a huge influx of these passive aggressive types on here. I remember the good old days when PW was a quiet forum of like minded "friends"... now it has a feeling of "Who invited him to the party?" I have no idea why someone would take a sad situation as this and try to turn it around and make snide comments. Is this how you get off? You have my deepest condolences Cwaters and a virtual hug..just ignore the rest...

My deepest condolences as well. You are in my thoughts. For many of us, our pets are family members.
I don't think you meant harm, Obie, and I hope you are just being misunderstood. An apology for any misunderstanding might go a long way in this situation. The way the OP describes the situation, it could have been a child playing in the yard who got hit. I hope you can understand that for many the difference is not that great.

"Our dog was on our property"

I guess I am being misunderstood. How could this dog have been hit by a car going 45 mph when the dog was on the owners property?

As a person who has been chased by dogs while riding my bicycle and was bitten on the leg, I am less than tolerant when it comes to people who let their dogs run loose.

So Obie, since this is now becoming a topic on what you are or are not tolerant of tell me this.... which are you least tolerant of:

1. People's dogs loose on their own property or
2. People hitting and killing a dog with their car and driving away?
Assume the best and ask questions.

I want to express my deepest sympathy for your loss of your beloved dog. I have two dogs and I know I would be grieving and in a world of hurt if this had happened to my dog. To so many of us dogs are our furry children. My heart goes out to you.

I find it hard to believe OB (Obie) has posted three times on this thread with cruel blaming comments. How heartless. Thank good ess OB is not in the majority on punaweb.
You have my sympathy and condolences for your loss.
