Hit and run on Goivernment Beach road
#31
Obie,
Apparently you're not going to be happy unless cwaters admits that the was dog running loose in the street and that the original post was full of lies about the circumstances that led to the pet's demise. Apparently it's more important for you to be right than compassionate.

But even under the scenario you apparently envision -- that the dog ran into the street and was hit by a carefully driven vehicle -- compassion and empathy are called for, not reprimands. Even with the best supervision, dogs (and kids, and elderly adults...)sometimes end up where they're not supposed to be and suffer tragic consequences. Drivers sometimes make stupid decisions or lose control of their vehicle and cause unintended damages. But drivers are supposed to watch out for the unexpected -- like kids, balls and, yes, pets that run into their path. They are supposed to operate their vehicles in a safe manner based on road conditions...a manner that allows them to avoid collisions. And if, God forbid, they hit someone or something, they are supposed to stop, not drive on thoughtlessly.

I'm sure cwaters is pained by both the tragic loss of the pet and the uncaring attitude of the person who killed it. Congratulations for recognizing this as a perfect opportunity to pile on with your continuing serious of callous remarks and judgmental comments.

obie, you are I am afraid mistaken, The end of our drive extendes beyond our gate and even past our planter. I can not begin to understand how a person like you can be so sick, you need therapy.
Bless the beasts and the children

Christine, I am so sorry about your dog. Dogs are part of a family. And this is just an incident that could of occurred at any time, but the road has just been worked on, re graveled, and is smoother than it has ever been and people are driving really, really fast. Imagine if it was paved? I ride a bike all the time and this totally smooth 1 to 1 ½ lane road has made more and more people come through here at a high rate of speed. It scares me when I am riding a bike when cars come flying by. I kind of like the natural speedbumps that we have had in years past. If the road is going to be this fast track way, please think about getting an electronic fence for the next dog. They work very well. It is really just horrible that someone would not have stopped and told you, apologized or something. Makes me sick. Really sorry for the dog's loss.

Private property or not, I really don't think a person would hit a dog on purpose, lest they break something on the car ... OR get caught. Maybe the person who hit the dog never even saw it, was focused on avoiding something else or simply just thought it was another wandering stray with no one owner around ? Sorry the dog got hit, but no need to ring any HUMAN necks for what was surely an accident, callous or not.

pog,you said "surely" an accident? The only person who can be sure is the driver.

Don't know what it means, "surely an accident -callous or not." How does one have a callous accident? And the loss to a HUMAN is real. And the driver never stopped to offer apologies or explanation. Please stop trying to minimize the loss that is being felt. It's not your place to do so.

cwaters, I am sorry for the loss of your dog, and the pain that Obie has sent your way with his remarks. But I am amazed and very heartened to see all the comments that are supportive of you, cwaters, and with such astute and compassionate friends such as these on Punaweb, hopefully your pain will be just a little bit less. Obie, you are (as Pema Chodron calls it) "the Bengali tea master" - an irascible rude person who constantly reminds us of our own faults, and also our ability to find compassion for ourselves and others; your input, therefore, is valued... if it were not for your comments, all these wonderful folks might have not come forward with their kindnesses..... My condolences. And once again, I am proud of the aloha that shines forth here on Punaweb.

Wherever you go, there you are.
Wherever you go, there you are.
