media mail from hawaii

Anyone ever send via media mail from Hawaii? Any idea how long it took? Does it go by boat like parcel post or plane?

I send media all the time. Yes, it goes by boat, and waits until there is a full container before shipping. Often takes 4-7 weeks to the mainland.


(edited to add that occasionally I'm pleasantly surprised that an item is delivered in less than a week)

about 6 to 7 weeks weeks. Pretty sure just about everything goes air out of here. It's just a matter of when. Make sure you package it very well. It gets banged around pretty good.

Well, when I sent a package from Keaau Post Office, I was asked if I wanted it to go by plane or boat, so I think hrooster is correct.

we shipped 81 boxes in a mix of parcel & media mail when we moved here & have since had quite a few books (mainly university textbooks) shipped media mail....

Time frame have ranged from 3 weeks to 11 weeks...

Post Office told me it goes by boat like a parcel, as others have said.
