Yes, we took a walk after our visit to Kaleos last night and they were open. We will have to try it for sure! It's mind-boggling how many restaurants we now have in Pahoa...LOL!!!

Boogie Woogie
The absolute worst Pizza I ever ate. Do not advertise New York Pizza if you don’t know what it tastes like.
Jayne and I will never eat there again.

Oh no! Say it ain't so! Sad

Was hoping for a better answer, but thanks for your honesty KS. (But next time tell us what you really think, lol.)

I've panned a few pizza joints in my day that claim to make "Chicago-style" pizza but don't deliver.

Is it so hard to make a decent pizza?

oh well, maybe BW pizza will seem better now if the new competition doesn't cut it.
If I ever do go to New York, I'll have to eat NY style pizza and see what it's all about.

Used to love Zachary's Chicago style deep dish pizza in Berkeley. The only drawback was so many people loved it it was always bursting at the seams.

Check it out if ever in Bay Area and you like Chicago style pizza.

Man, now that I'm thinking about pizza, I would love a piece of that tonight. [Wink]

There is still a chance that something, too much or too little, happened to a single pizza. I will still have to give it a try. Someone must have thought they would be good to go to all the trouble to open a place.

I could be wrong, but I think Scott was saying that Boogie Woogie advertises that they are New York Style Pizza and that he doesn't think they know what that tastes like and that he won't go there again.

Scott...have you tried the New MIKE's NY STYLE PIZZA place already? Is it good?

Oh, Scott's reply confuses me too.
Sounds like he says Boogie Woogie is the worst.
But Boogie Woogie doesn't advertise New York style, does it? So how would the rest of his post apply then?

If they sell by the slice, I am always willing to risk one ... a whole pie maybe not.

New York style is supposed to be big and thin and then you fold it to eat it .. no?
I have had Boogie Woogie slice (just OK), and it was a regular wedge.

The wonderful thing about 'Chicago style' is that there is such a diversity of Chicago Style pizza places, from Aurelio & Pizanos thin, to Ginos, Unos & Lou Malnati for deep....to our vote for the best, and the best "Chicago" location in Lincoln park (across the street from the St Valentines day garage....)
Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinders....cooked like a pizza pot pie & perfectly turned out at the table, always the most perfect crust... not too thick, nor too thin, and all golden! Perfect! & ordered by the pound!

Well folks,

I ain't from New York, or Chicago for that matter, but I do like pizza.

Ordered one from Mike's this evening and am totally happy; Thin crust, nice flavor, plenty of meat and cheese, and did I say nice flavor? Oh,and, it tasted good.

This Alaskan gives it two thumbs up. But then what do I know, not being from New York or Chicago? Crust could have been more crispy, and I'll ask for that next time.
