Murder investigation in Eden Roc
#31
Funny, my neighbors just came by and asked if I would mind putting up some signs as people are cutting through an area of my land and accessing their land.

They are island born and suggested we go with KAPU.

They also pointed out that a nIce sign will get stolen, and a small flimsy sign will get pulled down. So no, simple NT signs don't do the job. I already tried that on my old land in Hilo.

An interesting story for you all...since it involves signs and Eden Roc and newcomers. I had a friend, not a local, but here since the 1980s, in Eden Roc (who has since passed...RIP) who kept newcomers from buying and building next to him for many years with a "Satan Rules" sign (spray paint on metal roof panel) posted in front of his property. To this day, nobody has bought or built on the neighboring lots, even though the sign is long gone. He didn't worship Satan, but figured nobody would want to live next to somebody who they thought worshiped Satan. He had peace and quiet there for all of his days...even the meth heads didn't dare go back there!

Interesting strategy. While it might have worked for him, there's always the possibility some cult leader looking to relocate could see that sign and think, "At last the perfect place for us to settle down without having to worry about angry neighbors." This is Puna. It could happen. [Big Grin]

*UPDATE* Police Arrest Mountain View Man for Puna Murder (http://www.bigislandnewscenter.com/polic...una-murder) Big Island Police have arrested a 48-year-old Mountain View man, Walter Boyd Bremmer, for a murder that occurred earlier this year in Puna.

On January 28, the body of 52-year-old Robert John Leong was found at a home in the Eden Roc subdivision. An autopsy determined that the victim died from a combination of ligature strangulation and a brain injury from a gunshot wound.

At 6:45 p.m. Wednesday (October 3), detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section arrested Walter Boyd Bremmer on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the investigation. Bremmer was also arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and use of a firearm in commission of a separate felony. He remains in the Hilo police cellblock as detectives continue their investigation.

***On a side note, I knew Walter. He was my neighbor on Moano (Rd 4). He is a BAD dude -- into drugs and guns. Walter was involved in another murder in Oregon in 2009. That story is here: http://www.oregonlive.com/news/index.ssf...beate.html Here's his facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/walter.bremmer

Eeek! And Arg. There are so many creeps like that skulking around this area. Glad they got him. Now I guess we'll see if they keep him... They usually just slap their wrist, consider time served and let 'em run free around here, is that about right?

RE: Kapu; I was told by a wise old Tutu that Kapu was more than just 'No Trespassing'. That it invoked something like karmic penalties if the sign was not adhered to. There are, what some would consider, strong superstitions attached to the written word.

I also know of Walt, he is crazy, the strange thing is both murders were strangulation related.... He is a small guy, very short and small, when you see him that is the first thing you notice, then he often has his shirt off or unbuttoned and he has a large shark tattoo in middle of his chest.

another strange thing ...... Walt was well know to run with a gal from North Pole Alaska... the same small place far away that was brought up briefly in this exact thread months ago....

PS KAPU as mentioned earlier is local term for "no trespassing"... meaning "Forbidden" or "Off Limits" ie pre1819 if woman ate banana she would be put to death ...one of many "rules" of the ancient Hawaiian Kapu System (pre1819)

if you walk past a KAPU sign in Puna... you one stupid faka! ... and the dog(s) you run into wont be a poodle
