Eh Pog, That post is too vague to be meaningful.
Assume the best and ask questions.

I still have no clear idea what you are talking about. Why speak in riddles?

I think this refers to HA and if so I would like to state that from today I personally would like to encourage a more positive approach. Feelings are understandably running high, but I think we have all made our point. My apologies if people were offended and the debates will no doubt continue, but hopefully we can refrain from name calling. My aloha to you all and my heartfelt thanks to Rob.

I suspect this is not the first descent into vitriol, and Rob is just waiting for it to burn itself out.

Well, you do get to hear about what hell holes other divisions can be.

Anybody ever look at how the roads coming out of Orchidland and intersecting with Hwy 130 don't go straight across to HPP? HPP has their own set of roads that come out and intersect with Hwy 130. All those intersections at T-angles.

It's not hard to understand. All these failed divisions based on mainland transplant layout were done with what were known as suburbs in the 60's, except on the mainland, it was expected the division lots would be developed first. If you look at these failed divisions, and look at their outer boundary, it was a small handful of greedy white carpetbaggers that chopped up their gigantic ag lot for maximum profit. Shipman is basically the only one that didn't do that, and it's whimsical to wonder what would have happened if he had. The people that are living in the problem divisions are experiencing the legacy of those first greedy landowners. Capitalism, don't you love it!

All these failed divisions based on ... suburbs

Big difference: a "suburb" is intended for real people to actually make a home. What we have is "maximum lot density" to create a giant "tax mining operation". No space was left for future expansion (roads, shopping centers, etc).

Just remember folks - these subdivisions may be lacking in some basics but if not for their affordability - we would be living in apartments in Hilo... Imagine if the Puna suburbs all had county water supply, high speed internet, paved roads, sidewalks, parks, little grocery/shopping centers, stop lights, etc. Every neighborhood would be an expensive gated community like Waikoloa!!
