What irks me is that now their funding has been cut, they get the Coast Guard to help them out.

What's wrong with me? I love the helicopters. Like to watch them fly. Wave at them. It was a little disturbing though to see two criss-cross directly over my house this morning with what looked to me to be less than a couple hundred feet of vertical separation.

Well, Kelena, one reason not to love them so much is they make many people angry and irritable, and said aggravated folks might impact your day in some other fashion, perhaps there is less aloha spirit to go around? [8D]

I saw in HTH paper that Helco will do islandwide aerial line inspections during June 4-15.

Hmm... maybe something wrong with me too, because it doesn't bother me. [Smile]

If the helicopters don't bother you, that's nice for you and there's nothing wrong with you.
I think it's nice to sympathize with people who are having a hard time though.
Helicopters are sooo loud and it's intrusive to say the least. Thank goodness I've never had some guy trailing through my yard on a cable. Sheesh!

I always hear about the line inspections and a line goes through my property on an easement, but I've yet to be around when it happened. They don't inspect very well if the amount of lines covered in foliage and vines is any measure. [:p]

It bothers me also. I'm "older" and I take a nap every day in the early afternoon. I can handle dogs barking, noisy vehicles driving by...but not low flying helicopters that vibrate the house. Although I must say that yesterday and today they seemed to be flying higher and wasn't as bad as a few months ago.

What has been happening on the mainland is that the Mexican drug cartels fly helicopters and drop their people to plant new grow sites.

They also harvest any pot that is ready. They are coming to steal your pot folks !!

That could be what's happening here [?]

Not too sure that the drug cartels are using Coast Guard helicopters at around 5 am....

NORMALLY the helicopters do not really bother us, even though most every one goes right over Keaau downtown.... but when they are really low & esp. really low AND really early...it does vibrate you up...& is kinda startling

Plus, I really do only associate a low flying Coast Guard helicopter with a REAL EMERGENCY (maybe too many years on a dive boat??) not a joy flight, nor an alternate use...

We live in town, and they were flying grids in the early morning right over town.... its not like they couldn't see most anything if they had driven the roads here (that is how the Dept. of Ag caught the fact I had bunching top infected bananas in my back yard when we first moved in...)

Plus EVERY tourist helicopter seems to travel overhead, so I would think only a true dimwit would plant anything in town... but maybe this was a dimwit search...
