Hawaii Sovereign Nation Kana'iolowalu
#1
Senator Akaka and Inouye signed the petition to support sovereignty. The native Hawaiians will be taking a roll call for one year to verify lineage and validation to be a Hawaiian Nation citizen. This could have varying impacts in many areas, especially where lands are concerned. The Hawaiian Nation is looking at the Native American nations on the mainland, generally the same level of recognition.

Don't know which HI Nation you're talking about, but none of the Kanaka Maoli I've talked with want the status of Native Americans and vehemently oppose the Akaka Bill. Heck, even the Native Americans don't want this arrangement. They just want their stolen lands back. There is nothing "sovereign" about this. Akaka and Inouye do not have good intentions for the Hawaiian people.

"A Hawaiian Nation for them is if haole goes back home where he belongs."

Pretty blatant racism.

As I understand it, there are more native Hawaiians on the mainland than here on the islands. Wonder why that is. Maybe they are trying to get away from all these haoles.

Good luck for this... It will never happen. Federal Laws trump state laws. End of story. Nothing to see here move along.

Altho... being an atheist it would be cool to send the white god packing and bring back the hawaiian way. But that won't happen either. Too many hawaiians are already brain washed. They would never go along with it.

Here is an example of a native Alaskan case of sovereignty handling a crime, the case made national news.

The concept of a Native American has some issues. As a recognized "tribe", Native Americans can operate casinos, sell cigarettes with no taxes, sell fireworks, and operate their own police, fire dept, etc. Income earned on the "res" is exempt from state and federal taxes. If there is a serious legal problem on the "res", you get federal marshals and the FBI involved. Is this what native Hawaiians really want? How many people would qualify as native Hawaiians using the average Native American criteria. Does someone who is 1/8 Hawaiian qualify? 1/16?

It's the same as kau inoa just that the name changed. We don't need to sign a paper to say who we are. Based on history, there is no Treaty of Annexation. In order to absorb another country (which btw, we are recognized in the Family of Nations)which is very differ politically from the native americans. Congress then made a "joint resolution" to somehow give the appearance that Hawaii was absorbed. Most of us never learned these things in school so we are looking into things for ourselves. Our sovereignty is unrelinquished and no piece of paper is going to determine anything. It's a waste of money useless. I will not sign it.

This initiative is not going to give us anything so it doesn't matter if you're white or brown. It's useless.

Many of us do live close to the Hawaiian way yet are progressing because we live in the 20 century..thank you! My grass shack has internet. None of us will live the olden way and we have evolved btw, we are flourishing. This is an american piece of paper that as nothing to do with Hawaiians. It's there to cause indifference in the community which shows true in your reply. Most of us will not sign the paper. I won't. It's useless.
