The anti-geothermal protesters pass around a lot of misinformation. there were some self reported emission violations by PGV in 2003, which caused a huge uproar with the Puna group saying the DOH never investigated it. DOH actually had their laboratory in Atlanta and their conclusion was that it was difficult to separate geothermal plant emissions from background volcanic activity. It is strange this Puna group was silent for almost 20 years while PGV, then Ormat provided a steady 30MW. It is also on the record that nobody has ever actually filed a formal health complaint. Compare this to a recent eruption at Kilauea. South Kona and K'au are almost constantly in the hazardous levels for SO2 (move the mouse pointer to the SO2 and scroll to see the emissions progress starting 6-28):

We, too, are relatively new to Puna. We had the same problem, mainly the AT&T cap on users. We asked if we could get on a waiting list. No such thing. So we called every day, sometimes seveal times a day. After a week or so we were told we had access. Friendly persistence paid off.
Now if Verizon would ever build the tower in Leilani. Been a year already....

I was reading about Exede, I saw they have unlimited use from 12AM to 5AM ---
I was wondering if that was Eastern time 12AM to 5AM or hawaiian time? Kinda nice tho since you could have your torrents running from 12AM to 5AM sucking down 1-3 megs a second...

You could try a hotspot... Virgin has one for $50 with a cap, but once you hit it, it slows down to 256k instead of dial up speeds which I have not found another company to offer. We're in a similar boat as you!
