Keaau Christmas Parade
#1
It's that time of the year again and looking forward to the 4th Annual Cookie Exchange at the Lighted Kea'au Christmas Parade. I called and was informed that I was to be Saturday the 8th of December and then today heard on B97 radio, the parade was on Saturday the 1st. Anybody know for sure what day it to be on? What ever day, Hope to see you all there! I'll have 4-5 pop-ups, several tables for cookies, and also a big pot of hot coco to warm the bones! I'll also have the generator going so we can have the fun festive lighting while we watch the parade!

OK, found this on Google:

http://gohawaii.about.com/od/festivals/a...land_2.htm

What is says:

The parade is on the 8th and starts at 5:30

If you plan on coming, try to be there early to get a spot to park. Same place as last year. Just across the street from the Kea'au Farmers Market(Old Volcano Road)

Be sure to bring your own chair!! I don't have enough for everybody!!

Royall, this sounds like fun! Tell me more about the cookie exchange. How many cookies? If I brought 5 dozen, I exchange mine for 5 dozen of other "flavors"?
I've done cookie exchanges before but the exchanges always ended up chaos...lol.

Ahhh! I had so much fun last year when Steve and I visted from Alaska! I was hoping that now that we're living here we'd be there again this year, but alas I think it's not to be. I'm having surgery on Wednesday and think that I won't be on my feet by the 8th. Sad SAD! Maybe next year. I wanted to show my daughter (who didn't come with us for our last year visit) the awesome Keaau Parade!

@ nana valley, We all sit around eat cookies and watch the parade and talk story. Then at the end, everyone gets to take home a little of this and a little of that! Sometimes people bring soup or other little delights to share. The amount and "flavor" are up to you. I like to make biscotti to go along with the hot coco. I made over 3 gallons of coco last year if I remember right. Some people will bring wine, others bring peppermint schnapps for their coco (taste great!)along with other things people like in their coco.

@ Dayna, Bummer that you and Steve can't be here this year. The Alaska treats (smoked salmon and jerkies)were to die for!

Might think to bring a few ziplock bags with you. Don't be offended if you bring cookies and they don't all get eaten or taken home. There have been times I've taken quite a few of my cookies home as peoples tastes change from year to year.

I'll be up there about 8:00AM to set up the tents. Don't want to miss out on the regular spot!

We'll bring veggie chili & rice (or spinach lasagna... on the fence... any votes?) & probably cheese & crackers... and what ever cookies Jimbo bakes....a pot of decaf, and what ever else
We do have paper plates (the cheapie type) & big baggies for take homes for those that forget a container

remember to bring plate, mug, bowl, spoon/fork if you want to reduce/reuse

Who ever has "THE BOX" - can it be dropped off at our house after scuba sunday for the parade?

@ Kathy..... The pop-up and a table would be nice.... I've misplaced one of my tables. Loaned it to someone and too old to remember how to!! BTW, how many gallons of milk did we go through last year.. about 3??

@Carey.... I've got the box and will bring it to SS.... Veggie chili??!!

Last year it was salmon and reindeer sausage and salami. I thought it was fitting to eat "Rudolph" at the Christmas parade.
