Chance for snow today for Mauna Kea
#1
A very cold pocket of modified Arctic air, especially for Oct. is on our doorstep. Thunderstorms are a strong possibility today and tonight.

For those who want to monitor the weather on Mauna Kea go here;

Although the resolution leaves a little bit to be desired the Worldwide lightning Detection Network does work here;

the little blue map on the lower right seems to have the best resolution. You can also copy the image and zoom in.

Enjoy the show!

there is snow up there, saw it clearly from downtown Hilo (sealevel) today about 5pm for a short time before clouds moved back in, snow level was down fairly low

here is a good Tweetie pic at Mauna Kea (looking South) at about 5 pm as well

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha

My wife was on an early flight to Honolulu this morning and shot a photo of the snow from the air at 7:30 am. Clouds are blocking our view so far this morning from the ground.

You're welcome to share the photo with whoever you wish, facebook or whatever.

I haven't been able to see the mountain yet because of clouds so I really appreciate the pics. Thank you for sharing the pics and links!
