Anyone missing a tortoise in HPP?
#11
he dug his way out of enclosure, made his way across the yard and found a gap under fence.

He was missing for 3 days. When I found him, middle of the road, walking towards the direction of his home. Approx 200' away. He may have found his way back in had I not swooped him up. Either way, back with his buddies, and owners excited for his return.

I've had a gopher tortoise on my lot for years (Fred). I was a little perturbed with him last year when he dug a rather extensive burrow in my drain field. I guess my lawn mowing annoyed him so he relocated after 6 months or so but I still see him munching grass and weeds almost daily. Of course he may dig in my drain field again when rainy season arrives as the drain field is high and composed of sugar sand.
