highway 11 closed last night?

I got an alert about 9 last night that Highway 11 was closed in both directions due to an accident; a second alert at 6 this morning said it was open again. Was the road closed all night long?

any details on the accident?

Around 7:40 p.m. Friday evening, the Hawaii Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a man wandering through traffic on Highway 11 in Volcano.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene a few minutes later to find a middle aged man lying in the center of the highway with no signs of life, apparently the a result of a vehicle-pedestrian accident.

Rescuers initiated CPR, and transported the man to Hilo Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
