So it's 11:00pm here in Alaska and its still daylight and for the next few
months we will see little if any darkness.
Husband just returned and commented on difference in the sunset time.
So this lead me to think of all the Alaskan's now living in Hawaii.
Myself I'm a night owl and just love puttering out side in the summer
even at 2am.
In the 8 years of Hawaii ownership I've never spent any summers.
Just wonder how the lack of summer daylight effects the Alaskan's?
I'm thinking I'll have to rise with the rosters!

I get up between 530 and 7am. In Alaska, I had a hard time waking before 10am. lol
It gets dark here right now around 7ish. I like that! An hour later than winter.
I have to say, that after living in Alaska almost my whole life, I feel more "even" here in Hawaii. The light cycle feels more normal, more "right" more healthy. It took me just a couple days to adjust to the light cycle and temps. It took me YEARS to adjust to Alaska and I felt it never really felt right there.

That's how I feel in the winter! I'm always tired always wanting a nap
Just to busy to take one, then summer hits and I have too much energy
and go-go-go I think that's why they call it "midnight madness"
And I think your right as I do feel right when in Hawaii but I always
attributed that to the aloha spirt and fresh foods.
I never thought really about SAD how it also effects us in summer.
Now I have another project to read up on .
Oops it's 2am better try get some rest.

Since moving to Hawaii I find it easier to get up earlier. I usually get up at dawn. I'm awake the same number of hours as before but its always dark when I go to sleep. In Alaska during the winter my most active hours were in darkness (moving snow after getting off work) and I never liked that.
