Hello,
Sorry for the dramatic title, but the only method I know to contact the Orchidland road people is through their web site and when I try, it just pukes out an error.
A puka has opened up on 40th ave. It is currently only about 8 inches wide but I can stick my entire arm down into this puka without feeling a bottom. THIS IS NOT A POTHOLE. At its current size it is unlikely to snatch a vehicle wheel but I'm afraid that if a person steps into it (like at night when they can't see it) they will break their leg.
Does anybody know how to contact them? This is not April 1 and this is not a joke. This is a serious hazard.

I put in a call to a Board member and left a message. When part of our road was dug up because of a water leak. The hole was covered with boards and yellow warning tape! Can you cover the Puka with piece of board? (after dark, so people are not tempted to mess with it)

I have tried to reach the OL org via their website to check on my fees due. Same SQL error. Yesterday I emailed the webmaster. Maybe they see it and fix the problem. As an IT person I find it humorous that there is a required input box on the online form for an email address and then in the text at the bottom you are warned against typing in email addresses or the form will blow up.

Apparently they are now aware of the puka and have fixed the web site. thanks for the help.

wow, this is frightening. Glad you saw it, and they are dealing with it. I wonder if this was because of the earthquake? or was it "just" the heavy rains we get?

Today marks exactly one month since I successfully reported the puka to the neighborhood road association without any action. A neighbor put an orange traffic cone out to mark the puka for safety but it kept getting run over/moved. So many kids run up and down the road I couldn't wait any longer and filled the puka in myself using two wheelbarrows full of rocks and cinder. Honestly the only reason I waited so long was that I wanted somebody with more puka experience than myself to try and determine if it was just a puka or the start of something larger. After seeing three children run over it today (fortunately not falling into it) I couldn't wait any longer. I'm not upset about having to fix the problem myself (especially since I have plenty of fill) but I'm pissed off that my road dues are apparently going towards absolutely nothing. Here we have an obvious leg breaker reported and nothing is done about it for a month. I have two lots in Orchidland and I'm considering not paying the road dues anymore. Why should I, when I have to repair an obvious liability using my own sweat and materials? I believe if they took legal action against me I would have enough pictures and documentation to show that they aren't entitled to road dues from me. Feel free to comment.

You mean like the County fuel tax? I'm sure it gets spent on
something but I haven't found where that is, guessing it's Kona-side.

Good luck with that, it's a "mandatory road fees" subdivision; like the fees in HPP, you're apparently not really getting anything for the money. Funny how that works.
