Wow...

Ya know the really weird part about the whole story is this...

Asked about victims, Fisher referred to only one girl, whom he described as “not a member, but she was an attendee of the church.” He added that Krivanek was “not allowed to come to the church for awhile, but then he was welcomed back.”

Fisher said the girl no longer attends services or Bible school at the church.

Well, if this dude knew about this "ONLY" one girl, then why was it not reported long ago? Oh no, just welcome him back and let the abuse go on. Sigh... I wonder how many other victims may come forward from this.

If you got kids and they are attending these types of rituals --- Keep a close eye on your kids!

Do not trust anyone with your kids. Be it family members, married people with their own kids, or religious people. As much as possible, take care of your own kids yourself, and leave them only places with video cameras or lots of other people around. IF you have a nagging feeling, then always err on the side of caution, and dont leave your kids with that person.

OK! Is it time to play stereotype pile it on again?
I wouldn't trust people with your kids who tell you not to trust certain types of people with your kids...
(and I guess by my comments that would even include me? Well that can't be right.)

I think its the the other way 'round - no (non parent) adult should ever be alone with a child ..... and keep an eye the folks (and groups) who havent figured that out.....

Yes, this stuff makes me angry. Because of the danger of perverts, our church does background checks on all our teachers, helpers, etc., even during vacation Bible school. No one can be with the keiki alone. I do get troubled that many children can't get rides to church, so we pick them up and take them home resulting in a short time that a child is alone in the car with the driver.

Then again, some of the keiki are SAFER at church than alone at home with Dad's (or Mom's) friends. One young girl was so traumatized when her dad went to the store for beer and left her with his "friend". The entire time, that sicko was trying to touch her, following her every where in the house. She told her dad when he got home, only to be brushed off by her own dad. The mother learned later when her daughter came home (from visitation with her dad). Court got involved on that one, thank goodness.

Its a sad comment on the world - those of us who had small children during the Mc Martin (sp?) watched the transformation of adult relationships with children

Agreed - sad but true children must be taught about boundaries as toddles if not before....

Adults need to know that being alone with a child can cause never imagined consequences - and that is an upside - I don't even want to dwell on the adult having bad intent - its just good common sense

the neighborhood kids always welcome in the yard, public places .... never allowed in the house without a parent .... for both of our protection

yes sad world we live in - especially for those of us who remember a kind pat on the head from strangers in a time of need .....

or going to the neighbors for Disney ..........because they were the only ones on the block with a color tv........

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that all religious people are child molestors.
Molestors often target religious groups because a) more access to kids
b) assumption of being clean-cut c) they can tell the kid that God wants
them to do it.
