Just curious, but was told the Big Island Chronicle website seems to have been down for several days now. Anyone know what's going on? I get a "503 service unavailable" and a message saying the site is undergoing maintenance.

Actually I went there a few days ago and then I got a nasty computer virus called System Protect or something. It's a fake antivirus that tries to get you to pay to fix made up problems. It disabled my antivirus programs and I wound up having to pay for a new one called spy hunter to get rid of it. Bummer.

The last time I went there, my McAfee virus protection went into quarantine action. McAfee stopped whatever it was, thank goodness. I don't go there often because I don't care too much for Tiffany's version of journalism, but someone told me there were some documents on the Kalapana murder worth looking at.

Wow Chunkster, thanks for posting those details. Seeing as how the site has been down for a few days, I would venture to guess it was taken over by hackers/scammers. I've had my websites taken down a couple times in the last few years, it's a mad scramble to get the site/server rebuilt and operational again. The only way you can be sure your server is clean is to rebuild it from the ground up - it takes some time. I won't be visiting that site any time soon.

Don't know if they worked at the time you two posted them, but as of now both of those direct article links give a 403 Forbidden error.

It certainly did work when I posted it. Strange.
