Keopuolani
I wanted to tell you I understand some of the things you were saying now that I have read about her. I am glad you mentioned her here!
Hugs from me [

Aloha ahiahi, Pam, and mahalo for taking the time to read and understand.
The history of Keopuolani (and her father) is evidence of commitment to ohana. As wahine, you and I (among others) can hopefully appreciate the strength a woman carries in our culture. It is no wonder the King would approach her on his knees, or crawl on his belly to her, out of respect.
During the trying times we all endure, it is with great hope our basic human decency prevails. It has been a very long week, month, and/or year, for many of us.
I cannot express in English words how much I appreciate your reading about Keopuolani. During the past few days (been on Mauna Kea/a Wakea to make sure my ohana on both sides were safe and respectful), Akua, e na Aumakua, e na Kupuna were most certainly present. No question.
My continued positive thoughts and prayers always, as we look forward to your return to Hawai'i, Moku o Keawe. You are one who has the heart of a Hawaiian/kanaka maoli, perhaps more than some with the "koko" (blood) in the veins, as far as your outlook on life.
Mahalo, and may Akua protect and heal you, to ensure your journey back home. We await your return.
With heavens blessings, Pam, now and always. Mahalo ke Akua.
Fondest aloha to you.
JMO.

Opihikao,
"You are one who has the heart of a Hawaiian/kanaka maoli, perhaps more than some with the "koko" (blood) in the veins, as far as your outlook on life."
I really hope you and Pam will meet one day. I'll do my best to make it happen although circumstances make it hard. Pam has spent a lot of time on the island and made many friends here, and it breaks my heart that currently visiting here is difficult for her - for selfish reasons as well of course!

You both brought tears to my eyes...thank you so much...xo
Tom, I know that one day I will somehow visit you again there
Sometimes I mimic animals and they will stop and stare at me, looking confused. Except crows always eventually say something back which makes me worry about what I might have said to them!
Anyway, never tried talking to a coqui...yet.
Opihikao, there are strange spiritual things I would share with you if you emailed me. Of course Science Tom would just laugh at me anyway
I will continue my reading. A lot to learn and absorb.
xo

You talk to crows? Why haven't you told me this before? (Actually, crows are quite intelligent, just watched a Nova show about birds and crows were certainly up there in the intelligence stakes, even above one or two who post here).
PS. Talking to coquis is easy, it's a technique many people here use to find them before the kill, myself included. They aren't the smartest animal out there...

There's an app for that. Literally. Your cellphone chirps, the frogs answer, then you kill them.

Lee - some of us old fogies just don't keep up-to-date with modern technology. [

Now all I need to remember is not to whack the coqui with the phone...
