TANGO, TANGO, TANGO!
It really works. We were overrun before but have seen a drastic reduction in force after a few applications!

I used vinegar when they invaded my kitchen. Vinegar made them shrivel up and die and i've seen no ants since.

I think we were buying three of those 1lb containers via amazon prime for $15.00 for three. I'll have to check the price to be sure. It seems like locally the prices are VERY high compared to amazon prime. I'm all for shopping local, but I don't want to pay 3x the cost to do so.

Tango is a liguid that comes in 2 1/2 gallon jugs for over $600. The active ingredient is S-Methoprene, a hormone disruptor Was not aware it could be purchased off the shelf in smaller containers. Are you sure it's the same product?

Guess I misinterpreted you. I gave up on Amdro a while ago because I tried a few pounds and it didn't seem to make any difference. From what I understand the bait isn't very attractive to little fireant to begin with and apparently if any moisture gets into the container (even just high humidity) then it ruins the bait and the ants just ignore it.
As far as Tango goes, it seems like periodically someone buys a jug of Tango and then sells off quarts for individuals to try. The recipe is available from the
http://littlefireants.com/ website, and there is a forum you can sign up to join or just view from the webpage (HAL Discussion Group)
Seems like when the ants do a major push in Spring at least a few people run out and buy a jug of Tango then offer to sell portions on the HAL Discussion Group.

Amdro works well in dry conditions, that does not describe most of Puna under most circumstances. So while Amdro is recommended by the fire ant lab, results in the field do not match results in controlled environments.

I just picked up some fire ant bait (ant block) for HD for 15 bucks I think a lb... I am not sure. But be careful what you buy. Not all amdro is the same. It should be ant block. According to HD the stuff is the one for LFA.
