Luquins Mexican Restaurant
#1
Luquins Mexican Restaurant is now accepting restaurant.com certificates;
https://www.restaurant.com/listing?loc=96778&key=

Minimum purchase of $30 at restaurant to use certificates.

I have been using these certificates for over a year with no problem except that Papa'a Palaoa Bakery no longer accepts them after I got addicted to their fresh and Ono breads. The certificates say they never expire and Papa's gave me a number to get my money back but I haven't done it yet.

Woah! Hilo Siam has a $50 cert for $20. Could feed the whole family for a Jackson. Not bad.

Now, if Luquin's were only clean and had decent food and had decent service . . .

This is not exactly a gift card kinda thing. You buy a $15 certificate for $6 off on a mandatory $30 bill by using the certificate to pay for half. So $15 minus $6 means you get $9 off of the $30 bill. 3/10ths off. Almost two drinks.

Still a discount but kinda sorta not what most people think.

I bought 4 $15 certs and 4 $10 certs (for when the bill will be over $20 but less than $30 and the math is still 3/10th off).

The trick will be ordering to get an exactly $20 or $30 bill, but life is kinda sorta too short for that. Wink

Can't imagine how it will go at the checkout, but hopeful.

LuQuins is a slice of life in Pahoa and we love it. To each his/her own...

Cheers,
Kirt

Luquins is going corporate. Sort of like the dark side I guess. Oh well. We can still tackle wild pigs with bayonets and roast breadfruit if things get tough.

There are other options. See the Hawaii history and cannibalism thread for details.

Minimum purchase of $100 at restaurant.

Still not bad if you had about 5-6 people. These don't work out too well for 2 people. I guess anything counts. Pretty much ends up paying for the tip.

Consider that it's only a matter of time before EPA condemns scenic downtown Pahoa...

Well, no go using the coupon at Luquins last night. The checkout person never heard of them, and the head waitress said someone signed up Luquins without them knowing about it.

Should be fun trying to get money back from the website. Wink First world problems, mon.

Cheers,
Kirt
