Who hauls shipping containers?

If a shipping container was purchased from someone on craigslist who do you call to pick it up and transport it? If you had one moved what did you pay for delivery?

(I know this will differ with distance, but to get an idea how far was yours moved and what did you pay)

try keaau services..( the 76 station in kurtistown) they have everything you need, crane if on the ground etc. conans in hilo also has a giant forklift to pick it up and haul it. too long ago to quote a price for ya, and you dont say where you are located..

I always call RYAN's towing, He has the right attitude to go with the proper equipment. Charge will depend how far he has to tow it?. The price around puna was a hundred or two usually. Good buy for yourself out here and steel is only rising so resale should be the same or more later, meanwhile you shouldn't experience your belongings walking off.

Exactly my thinking, I know there's no way to have our eyes on our tools and materials 24/7. Gonna have to take a trip to the beach at some point right

If you have to get the container into a tricky place where it has to be hoisted around obstacles then Keaau Service is the way to go. They have a boom truck. It's more expensive but you can get them to drop it just about anyplace.
If it's a 20' container and There is easy access to it at the pick up point and an easy drop off then a tilt bed tow truck can move it a lot cheaper.

I installed a heavy duty snip proof lock on mine. (available at home depot) Six bolts drilled through, three on each side, fully surrounded by 1/4 inch metal with a round lock. I also put a chain and lock through the vertical rods. This can be cut but chains make a lot of noise when you move them around.

I saw at one of my customer's houses that thieves had cut the metal clasp on the door itself to break into his container avoiding the snip proof lock.

I'm good with a welder, I plan on beefing up the doors. I also saw those snip proof locks and think they are the way to go. Good thoughts with the chains they do make a ton of noise

This link here shows a round disk lock at the bottom of the page and how it protects better than standard locks. The thieves can't get the bolt cutters in there

When you talk about the metal clasp are you talking about these here? If so I guess a guy could weld a piece of steel plate or steel tubing to protect them as long as its not in the way when the door swings open.

Maybe that won't work I think it would be in the way when the door swung open, guess plan B would be to weld on some hinged plates thats folded down in between those clasps that could be locked onto the doors.

Or a piece of pipe welded on to the front with a rod going through it that could be locked

I was talking about the little swivel, with hole that lock passes through, that locks down the handle.

The lock I installed has 2 plates (1 that attaches to each door). The plates have thick walls that stick out and surround the lock when the doors are closed. the lock itself is totally round and holds the two plates together when closed. the only problem with this lock is that both doors have to be opened and closed simultaneously to bring it together. But I've gotten used to it.
