Kea'au Christmas Parade and Cookie Exchange
#1
OK people, its that time of the year again! Time for the Kea'au Lighted Christmas Parade and Grand Cookie Exchange!!

It will be in just 2 weeks (Dec 14th) and will start close to dusk. We'll be setting things up in a different location this year as the old place is all torn up with construction equipment.

There will be about 4-5 popups for you to set "YOUR" chairs under to keep a little dryer! Also tables to put your cookies (hopefully homemade) out to share and the generator will keep things merry with cheerful lights. As usual, there will be a big pot of HOT coco to warm the tummy on such cold wintry night. If you look you'll probably find some peppermint schnapps to add to the coco Wink

I'll post again as we figure out where we'll be setting up this year. We'll need plenty room for this rowdy group!!

This is the 5th annual Cookie Exchange and hope to have a great turn out!!

We will do a veggie crock pot lasagna for noshing, and some sort of cookie (no oven still, so the creativity continues)

And, of course, lilikoi lemonade...maybe a crock pot lilikoi cheesecake (just kidding...maybe...we do have a lot of lilikoi hanging around!)

carey, you are welcome to use my oven! I have an inside and an outside one. We can both make cookies at the same time. lol

I think I'm going to try to go this year. Last year I was recovering from hip surgery so couldn't make it.

have two bottles of schnapps. Will be there, wherever that may be as our usual spot is now a construction zone.

Yes this is a "BUMP"!! This Saturday is the parade. I'll know tomorrow where we'll be setting the tents up and if all is good, I'll post where it will be. If that doesn't work out, I'll post a plan "B"!! Hope to have a good turn out for the 5th annual Cookie Exchange!

OK. Found a location to set up the tents for the parade this Saturday. From Kea'au, go towards the High School. The spot chosen will be on the mauka side of the road JUST past the first left (KIKANIA ST)right where the long guardrail starts. There is a small parking area there too!

Coming from Pahoa, go past the elementary school, through the stop/go light. It will be on the left just before KIKANIA ST.

If you know your way around Google Earth, hear ais the lat/long to bring up a birds eye view. 19* 37 06 26 / 155* 02 14 02

Like I mentioned above, there is a parking area right there. Just have to be there early enough to get a spot.

Nice detail description. I'm a bit introverted in person but I just might check this out on Saturday evening! I'm not sure how cookie exchange works but I will bring some fresh baked. I'd be happy just to donate the cookies!

Nana, all you have to do is bring cookies and a chair! Share the cookies and sample others cookies. There is going to be some Chili, lasagna, and maybe some Portuguese bean soup too! When pau, everybody takes some of the cookies home to enjoy. Oh, and don't forget... I'll be serving hot coco too!

Bump!
Royall need our tables? We have a few extra chairs for those who need/forget

OK, hubby is baking cookies tonight, so I will have my crockpots free... Found I you CAN make crockpot cheesecake (lots of recipes even...had no idea!)

Probably will help those planning this to know who all is planning on, may be, coming to the parade/cookie exchange?

To all interested in attending:

Does anyone want lilikoi cheesecake (I have wayyy too many lilikoi & many more coming in!)
Portuguese beam soup>
Veggie lasagne?
Lilikoi lemonade?
Decaf coffee?

OK, this is my final "BUMP". I got 4 tents set up on the Hiway. There is a blue, green, and two tan tents now and will be a white one later. There will be Christmas lights shinning for that festive feel of this great time of the year. There will be plenty of room out of the rain. Just bring the cookies, a chair, and your fun lovin' spirit!! There is plenty of parking off the road, behind the tents but you have to get there early before they close the road. Please tell your friend or just bring them along and have some fun Hawaiian tradition! I'll be making hot coco to serve with the cookies! I believe the parade starts at 5:30.
