One local "pidgin" phrase you might want to know is "Got beef?" They aren't asking if you've got steaks at home. They are telling you they are done talking and communication is about to get a lot more primitive. People who come across as sanctimonious or think they have all the answers or have to have the last word tend to hear it more than others.

love the no bs style out here - posers get outed really quick - want friends out here - bring a welding machine - save the talk story for later - grin
A forum, has been created by nature as a place to discuss, debate, agree and disagree. The internet is very different from real life.
You can always walk away, or simply not converse with someone whom you dont have a likened mind to, in real life.
In real life, "ho brah, you like scrap ?" only comes about if you are in a engaged disagreement or someones had a few too many green bottles.
The web, there isnt a walking away, and so people find it more of a reason to be combative and expressive. There is no threat of anything but CAPS LOCK.
Two completely different worlds.
You should seem opinionated on a forum, thats what its for.
Thanks by the way for making me look up sanctimonious, I didnt know that definition.

If this is how much trouble you go through to find out how hard it is to speak Hawaiian, this future punatic is gonna stick to the English.Wouldn't want to get my ass kicked for speaking broken pidgen or non fluent Hawaiian.I do know some of the universally accepted words, symbols and gestures if things get rough.Funny how when your happy go lucky and smile a lot it's easy to accept and be accepted by the skinny old Jew or that fat young smelly hippie. You miss a lot this life has to offer if you don't get to know some diverse folks their story's and perspectives can be very enlightening.people are rarely how you initially imagine they are...That being said if the person ahead of me in the buffet(any person) eats off of a utensil and puts it back in the food I will speak up maybe something like "hey what are you doin fool" nicely. No reason really to be mean ever.Besides sarcasm is more effective, civil and intellectual

Sorry my response combined two threads this one and the haoles and friends.Strange how the bickering ends up in such a similar place from two unrelated topics.I'm also easily confused apparently.

Where does it stop being an value judgement and start being desire to want ethical behavior ?
