Like Obie, I cannot make sense of pahoated's post. Hawaiian doesn't have any 737s so thought maybe this was an attempt at what might happen in the future, but don't see any reason why Hawaiian would replace its 717 fleet. The rest is just noise as far as I can see and not really related to Go!. If the post means that the money comes from operating flights from Honolulu to the other islands, I'd agree and think most of us know that, but then "global" is mentioned and can't quite make the connection between that, Fedex and, jeez, topology economics.

He bought Island Air a year ago, with destinations in Oahu, Lanai, Molokai, Lihu, and Molokai... supposedly to ensure that guests at his two hotels in Lanai could continue to get there... then he announced plans to acquire go! and its 5 planes last summer... which deal apparently came unraveled, since they are now folding their tent here. More recently a rumor was floated that Ellison was looking at buying and reviving the Aloha Airlines brand, so maybe that's why the go! deal failed? Or maybe they were failing and that's how they got in talks with him last summer? I dunno, but I don't think Hawaiian Air/Ohana is going to go without competition.

Hawaiian's planes are ATR-42-500's a new aircraft. Island Air is flying 20 year old ATR-72's.When they were new they were operated by American Eagle.

And then United announces that it is considering layoffs of up to 223 workers in Hawaii(mostly ground personnel)
