HPP get-together Saturday at Joy SanBuenaventura's

Friends of Joy SanBuenaventura will host a 2-hour get-together from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Hawaiian Paradise Park home of Joy SanBuenaventura and her husband Sheldon Lehman. Voters who would like to meet Joy, discuss local issues with her, get to know her as a candidate for the State House are invited to call 965-8945 for directions. We'd love to see you there.

I hope Joy will appear at the forum for candidates in Pahoa town this week. Emily and Faye have confirmed. I want to vote for Joy and not merely against her opposition. This announcement came a little late for most of us who plan our weekends.

+1 to PeterE's comment. This is extremely short notice and indicative of poor planning. That and the lack of an RSVP for the Pahoa forum are not good signs. As a resident of HPP, I would love to ask Joy some questions specific to my community, but I couldn't cancel plans. I won't be voting for Faye, but I need a reason to vote for somebody else. Brian Jordan?

Just FYI, Joy said yesterday at her Paradise Park talk story that she had responded by phone and email to Rene Siracusa to take part in the June 19 forum and had not gotten any reply.

That is good news. My wife and I look forward to the Forum, especially now that Joy will be there. Rene, while I've not met her, seems pretty akamai. I'm sure everyone will work it out.
