Ashes from a campfire are fine, as long as there was no treated wood burned.

What do you use for fertilizer for your bananas when they flower terracore?

Anyone else?

If you're the organic sort, chicken manure.

Otherwise, 10-5-40H, available most places.

You can throw a handful of organic sulfate of potash on them 0-0-50, sold at BEI. Or regular 0-0-51.

We use the 10-5-40H from BEI. If you ask for banana fertilizer that is what they give you.

If you haven't yet, you'll want to familiarize yourself with BEI. As far as I know they are the cheapest. I've seen the same fertilizer at HD for literally 10x the price per pound.

Also terracore and I use a lot of rabbit poop and goat poop. On everything we grow as we have an unlimited supply!

Is it true that you can use the rabbit poop "straight" and that it will not "burn" the plants?

There are a few rules of thumb regarding rabbit and goat poop.

Now what *I* do might not always be correct and your mileage may vary.

The government and those afraid of ecoli and stuffs say to compost ALL animal manure for a minimum of like 60 or 90 days. You'd have to look that up as I kinda think it's hogwash on a small scale farm. I would only worry about it for large scale production and feeding the population and not thorough washing.

Rabbit and goat poop CAN burn plants that are sensitive to nitrogen if the urine is mixed in with the poop. Like if you scoop it out from under the hutch. You can separate it using a grate and gutter system that is easy. I find that here in Hawaii however we get SO MUCH RAIN that it is a non issue here at our house. I just scoop it out from under the hutch and toss it around the bottom/drip area of the plants.
