Not a lot of people are aware or care about the Big Island because the (insert holy title)--> "Hawaiian born locals" have made sure it gets little relevance. Until there's a fire, THEN you want the Natl guard and every power at be to come help.

you made your bed... now sleep on it

There was a mighty long power-outage at the bottom of Makuu Saturday night, from about 8:00-pm to about 3:00-am Sunday morning or so. Weird that just a couple hours after HELCO gets everything up and A-okay again, a house goes up in flames, down the road. No finger pointing, mind you. Just seems odd.

Protoss,
I am trying to figure out who your post is addressed to, specific individuals, or everyone on Punaweb.

Because this line:

"Until there's a fire, THEN you want the Natl guard and every power at be to come help.

you made your bed... now sleep on it"

has me confused about your meaning.

Our large Ohana is "Hawaii Born Locals ".
The people most likely had candles going cause HELCO tripped off is it seems to do regularly in small storms like this one with lightning, and the candle was forgotten about and the house fire started.
One self, you are new here,Oahu news has nada to do with big island, heck,i doubt if any of the talking heads ever been this part of the island.
It was only a small storm, nothing intense or major.
Stuff happens.
That part of beach area is NOT HPP.

The news reports gave the address as 15-2169 Government Beach Rd, but that's not correct as it doesn't show up on the county tax record website.
Has anyone seen a different address in a news report?

There are only two houses in that area, and I'm going to be it's this one, 15-2179 Government Beach Rd. (the other is 15-2227):

Looks like a nice house, not some unpermitted hippie shack.

If that's the place, it's a really nice house. Not that old. Met the owners some years ago, came away with a good impression. The property has multiple buildings, so hopefully they didn't lose all of them. Nothing was three stories high though.
