Willie K at the Akebono? Now THAT could be interesting. Last time I saw him at the Palace he reminisced about the good old days partaking with and playing for the local Pahoa "hippies." That's when some old hippie dude from the audience shouted, "And we're still here!" Smile

Then Willie mentioned that he's been sober for a year (this was about 8 years ago), drawing scattered applause from the audience. To which he responded, "Don't clap, it really sucks being sober." lol

I'm a big fan, just not sure if I'm up for an Akebono crowd packed in like sardines. Ya think it'll be a bit pungent in there? Smile

lol. I felt old--I mean "mature"--the first time someone asked me what kind of music the Beatles played.

When I went to the Janet Jackson concert at Aloha Stadium on Oahu couple years ago, my nephews didn't know who she was.

Great Willie-K-story, punafish.
I've seen him a couple times on Oahu, but never on the Big Island.

He probably won't do this one at the Akebono, but you never know; mighty versatile musician; a treasure really.

Willie K has played the Akebono Theater many times, as well as other Pahoa venues. And he did the piece linked in the previous posting at the Dem. Party Grand Rally back in 2008 when I organized it. Luv Willie K!!!

Leon IMO one of the most underrated song writers ever. When I hear Tight rope it sends chills down my spine every time, IMO a near perfect song awesome profound lyric and one big hook musically. A song for you is one of the most covered songs of all time. I have seen Leon a few times about 4 or 5 years ago in N.C. most recently. And the old man still put on one heck of a show. Think I'm gonna have to make that one for sure.
