Big Island Concerts Summer/Fall 2014
#21
Leonard Cohen just came off a pretty lengthy world tour, I can't imagine still touring at 79, although BB King blazed that trail pretty well. It seems like the blues players taught the rock and rollers that you can still tour as long as you are alive. You might need to sit down to play, but you can still play! By the way, Netflix has a really good BB King documentary, and another one called Muscle Shoals that I highly recommend.

I saw George Burns on stage when he was 99. It was pretty cool.

Hey Birdmove it is sad that so many greats are gone. All due respect to Mr. Allman but I have to think Allman bro band never sounded as good with Duanne and Dicky as it does with Warren and Derrick. Never saw the original line up. I have seen the current one a bunch though. The stuff Warren and Derrick do Out side the Allmans is pretty impressive as well. Saw Steve Hacket a few times over the years and would put his chops right up there with the best. YA KNOW Warren calls himself man in motion and plays 200 plus shows a year and I could see him bringing MULE to the islands. I'm pretty sure he could pull some of the reclusive Hawaii transplanted rock stars that it would seem are scattered around these Islands out of semi retirement, it seems like everyone wants to play with Warren. Maybe a little online petitioning of Mr Haynes is in order. I know Todd Rundgren Lives here And Walter Becker from Steely Dan. I'm sure you guys know of a lot more.

Hey fishenjim. The Mule is doing the "20 Year Strong" tour right now. Maybe they will put in a Hawaii date. Have you seen Tedeschi Trucks? Incredible show. They are touring too. They just came off a co-headlingin tour with The Black Crowes last year. At the end of every show both bands would jam together. Seeing Susan T & Chris Robinson (my favorite singer) on stage together was awesome. You should be able to find some of that on youtube. The ABB is sadly over. A few more dates and that is it. Gregg has reinitiated the Gregg & Friends thing and doing a lot of solo shows. I've seen ABB many many times at almost every Atlanta show except for the past few years. Gregg is pretty frail now and it isn't the same so I decided to keep my memories and just catch Warren & Derek in their respoective bands. I plan to finally move over next year and one of the things I'll really miss is having so many live music opportunities at my fingertips. My sister is in LA so I'll plan to visit my trips to her around bands I want to see!

Puna girl, seen Tedeschi Trucks a few times, I've seen trucks band at Stella Blue in Asheville N.C. when there wasn't 100 people there. If your from Atlanta I'm sure you know of and probably have been to Warren Haynes Christmas jams in Asheville. I lived there 15 years and saw 15 Xmas jams. I've seen Warren jam with soooo many people at those shows. All proceeds for habitat for humanity. Even though Warren lives in NYC now he always comes home to Asheville for Christmas.

M'Lady and I flew down to Tacoma from Anchorage May of last year to see Fleetwood Mac.
It was the first real concert in a dome setting she had ever been to.
She was impressed.
That was a couple of months before we started our move to here.

She worked for the facilities management company in Anc. that provided the concert venues.
We would get free tickets for concerts on par with those mentioned here.
We did a lot of smaller more intimate concerts.

Leon Russell and the Irish Rovers have caught my attention.
I might drag those by her when she gets back Monday.
See what she says.
