Feeling the heat
#1
We're approaching the time of year I have never really enjoyed much. No, not election time, but when the trades become weak and the temperatures and humidity rise. I have three thermometers at my place, two indoors and one in the shade on the lanai, and they were all reading 93 or 94 degrees this afternoon. I have Celtic genes and my operating temperatures is between 40 and 70 degrees, so am struggling! Anyone else the same way, or do some people love this weather?

You could always close everything up and buy an air conditioner, though it would cost a small fortune to run. Even having a fan on low all day can get expensive at HELCO prices.

What I did like was a chance to get front and back lawn mowed and trimmed up. The heat did seem to take it out of me a bit more than normal though. But I'm not complaining. A nice dry spell after all the rain was most welcome.

Yes... It's really hot and humid with no trade winds. But we have air conditioners in the bedrooms and the TV room for days like these. We live in HPP near the ocean and learned from experience that this time of year may sometimes be very uncomfortable. We insulated the ceiling and walls of our house so the cool air doesn't escape quickly. The cost from Helco is about $75.00 more a month....but it's worth it!

We typically do not even need ceiling fans, but had them on today (also walked our dog & the found dog around noon - what is that saying about mad dogs & ...) With the sun almost directly overhead there is also not as much shadow areas around trees... boy was it hot!

positive note, after the walk we all hosed off & after the hose fight, didn't seem as hot the rest of the afternoon... sometimes those simple pleasures as a kid work on OFs too!

TomK started 2 threads: "Punaweb gets roasted" & "Feeling the heat". TomK is there some sort of subliminal message here? Are you sending messages to space aliens from the telescope atop Mauna Kea? I'm crafting my tinfoil hat.......

Andrew - as you'll see from the Punaweb gets roasted thread I'm really just a hologram sent from the UK and have been discovered, so yes, you have it, I'm sending out secret "come rescue me now" messages to the space aliens! When I start complaining how cold it is in January and February you'll know they have arrived (traveling those distances takes a few months) and that's the secret message to say "beam me up, Vgordilikhg".

Seems I've been found out... [Wink]

Edited - I spelled Vgordilikhg's name incorrectly. Oh, and a typo.

This is the time of year, that from half hour prior to dawn to about 9:15am we do the heavy outdoor work, then have our morning brunch and relax the rest of the day till about 5pm when the days starts to cool, and again outdoors doing outdoor chores till 10 mins past sunset.
At 1000 feet and below can be sweltering,up here in Glenwood always 10 degree's cooler in the summer months.
This is time of year when a cold shower really is a luxury.
This is time of year when we get soft trade breezes at our elevation and take long afternoon naps.
This is time of year when the days are longest.
This is time of year when it is the doldrums of summer.
Days soon start to get shorter........That means winter is right around corner ......
Life is a blessing
