FYI: Governor Signs Emergency Proclamation

(*Snipped - More at link)

Gov. Neil Abercrombie on Wednesday signed an emergency proclamation in anticipation of the arrival of two tropical cyclones in Hawaii. Hurricane Iselle is forecast to impact the state Thursday evening through late Friday. Hurricane Julio is a few days behind Iselle and may impact the islands as soon as Sunday.

The proclamation, which includes the entire state, activates the Major Disaster Fund set aside by the Legislature for disaster relief. It also allows easier access to emergency resources at the state and federal levels, along with the suspension of certain laws as needed for emergency purposes.

“We want to make sure we are doing everything possible to protect the public,” said Gov. Abercrombie. “This proclamation improves the state’s ability to respond quickly to any potential impacts from both storms.”

The disaster emergency relief period for the proclamation begins today and continues through Aug. 15, 2014.

A lot can happen by the 15th. The suspension of law makes me a little nervous, since I remember the aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans

Bob, is this geo-engineering of yours designed to increase or decrease the storm?

At 5:30 the eye dimished and the radial straight lines were apparent, at 7:30 the eye had reformed while the straight lines had blended into the whole.
Draw your own conclusion PaulW

Currently 06:00 pm PDT, Wed 06 Aug 2014 the eye is diminished substantially, and shearing seems to be less than yesterday , but still apparent.Look for image update in about 30 min to see which way the wind is blowing. current time HST 3:30
Hopefully we will just get rain with a moderate wind speed - but time will tell.

Paul,

According to this article in West Hawaii Today:

http://westhawaiitoday.com/hurricane-sea...e-expected

the Hurricane Hunters found an airfield north of Iselle last night, so at least we know where the sprayers are taking off from!

KHON is having a live coverage right now... expect strong winds to 85MPH with gusts higher

All forecast tracks have the storm going though Hawaii Island, around ~HPP to Hilo

All county offices will close at noon tomorrow
expected initial impact 2pm, full strength winds 4pm

Beach parks will close at 9am
evacuation centers will open around noon
Now this update is over, but it really does look real this time

A clear picture of Iselle's entry and exit and everthing inbetween (as far as the bi is concerned). Why keep posting static images, when these reveal more.

This is interesting , 04:30 pm PDT, Thu 07 Aug 2014 (SUBTRACT 3 hours calculate local time, , storm is approaching, by 07:00 pm PDT, Thu 07 Aug 2014, first contact (more or less), now you can see a clear progression across the island, with the center roughly at HPP- and they suffered the most(i think). Anway at 11:30 pm PDT, Thu 07 Aug 2014, you can see a clear thin line as long as the island itself, and by 12:30 am PDT, Fri 08 Aug 2014 you will notice its been patched up, ie a thin line has been laid there to keep it together.
Interestingly, these frames, [12:30 pm PDT, Sat 09 Aug 2014], [01:00 pm PDT, Sat 09 Aug 2014],[ 01:30 pm PDT, Sat 09 Aug 2014], (which are missing - go figure -) these are the frames that would give us a good idea on the direction of Julio. Funny out of 96 frames , only these are missing, and they might show us Julio's intention.
