Obie, my wife and I just drove by Lava Tree Park and down to the hot pond, and made a loop starting and ending in Pahoa, for the first time since the hurricane. Looks like a war zone. The steel guard rial shows where all the trees hit it, and flattened it. Saw one albezia that looked like it had been about 6 feet thick at the base when it fell. We didn't go into the hot pond parking lot, but it looked fine.

I went to the hotpond. There was tape up and Kapohocat said it was going to be closed indefinately. Some trees were down on the left hand side and the walkway damaged. If anyone has any newer info then please let us know!

To make fun out of the people that will be affected by this drastic change, in their privacy, lifestyle, amount of traffic in front of their yards, to me, is unacceptable.
I understand these are harsh times, that require drastic measures, but mocking people, whose lives will be altered due to this new routes, it's beyond my comprehension.
Rob's second paragraph, as a moderator, and owner of this site was inappropriate.
I live on Beach rd, have about 400 feet of frontage, and I am not worried about my privacy, but speeders, congestions, and yes, since we live in such a remote area, our pets sometimes escape to the road. Even though all precautions have been made.
So, instead of making fun of people that will be affected on their face, please, let people know to drive cautiously through this new exit routes.

If that is a Troll, it's a good one.
