I saw some dude taking a wee on the fence that runs along pahoa road and the pahoa school gym right as school was letting out. WTH? One leg of jeans ripped and no shirt.

I get being homeless and all, but how about some decency?

Sounds like someone who has been off their meds for a while, the world they see may not have included the existence of the school.

Has anyone noticed that the perpetually drunk/high homeless bums that wander around in downtown Pahoa Village now all have dogs?

Yes, I have noticed that as well. The dogs seem to be well behaved at least. I hope they are taking better care of them than they are themselves.

lonely people want company of a faithful companion... often they do not think of the costs of taking care of one, food and medical needs. I feel for them. Really sorry to hear about the lava flow that is threatening Pahoa which will have a major affect on Puna district. Very sad.

No doubt, innocence has been lost, and the kids will be emotionally scarred for life.[:0] I'm curious to know the range of reactions from the car full of kids...was it shock? horror? revulsion?
Sorry to make light of the situation, but if the kids were like most kids everywhere, they would have been giggling and making "pee-pee" and "wee-wee" jokes.
Regardless of how a person ends up homeless, consider that they are turned away at practically every corner...shunned by society. As pointed out by Carol, when someone goes "off their meds," their ability to make rational decisions often goes awry.
