HPP Board 2014

Like I said, the "downed-powerline" excuse just doesn't work for me. JMO. However, if that excuse works for you, fine. I don't think less of you or that you are spreading misinformation. I saw said downed power line quite early. It looked like they could've gotten it out of the way by the end of the first day, at least(!). But again, JMO, and it is fine if you disagree.

I know there is some controversy about WHY the power line remained down and I do not know what to believe. Therefore, I am more concerned THAT the power line remained down, that those responsible (no matter who they were) thought this was acceptable. JMO -- It was NOT acceptable.

Could we all stop with all the blaming and just try to get the work done? That is more my point. I posted because I was so impressed by snorkel's description of a BOD enabling its residents to strengthen their community to better deal with the emergency. Another JMO alert here -- I personally don't see that happening in HPP. And all of this divisiveness and all of these vendettas don't help (and please, don't start asking about what vendettas, etc., since I only know what is in the rumor mill and I will not contribute to that speculation in any way). In fact, I'm about done. :-D

You're backpeddling now. You started the issue of "blaming", read your post. If your intent was to only admire how other subdivisions take care of their business, then why did you go on to say clueless negative remarks about HPP's management?

You're the one who's perpetuating misinformation so I'm checking you on it..our ofc girl gave us the real info on the downed power lines and it was about safety. You blamed the board saying they shirked their responsibility, they were unconscionable, those are powerful negative accusations and you are lumping all of them together. There are those that worked hard post storm to assist the HPP residents. Let's really move past the post storm blame game mearth. As I said, if you expect HPP to have a disaster relief plan in place, volunteer to spearhead that committee because as you saw, our former GM, previous board or non existent committee had taken this on.

Actually, Mearth, they are dealing with it. You are casting blame to our Association Board members for a decision made by Civil Defense. You are being called on it.

Our employee, Morgan Sky posted this information right here on Puna Web.
"I go back to work Monday. The office has been closed since about 11:30 on Thursday, August 7th. No power, lines down at the gate and I'm told it was the same in the back by the Activity Center also."

posted on 8/21/14 by HPP employee, Morgan Sky
"The generators were stolen awhile back, so we have no generators. And it was Civil Defense that wouldn't allow anyone to cross the wires at the gate."

She has worked for HPP now for approx. 18 years. She also posted the following................
"It's quite common for the "passionate" people to not want to get involved although they will point out everything they think is wrong......LOUDLY. I think they should "put up or shut up" since they are not so involved that they find out if there is any truth in what it is they are complaining about."

It is not clear to me whether you actually own in HPP and are a member of our Association. If you are, I do hope you take it upon yourself to become better informed for the sake of all of us .

And, I think it might be fitting to remind all what was posted by NHB in regards to our Association's "downed wire" dilemma.

So much drama, so much angst, so much rumor, so much nonsense, none of which produces anything beyond feelings of self righteousness. I live in HPP, I realize it is a mess and I know that punaweb postings aren't going to solve anything. If it truly matters to you go to the meetings, get involved. (Punaweb is NOT getting involved). If you can't be bothered, you have no grounds for complaint. The BMW club (bitch, moan and whine) makes a lot of noise but it doesn't take you anywhere.

Well Mearth , could you please find a new place to meet ?

Better yet, stop attending those meetings and come and listen at HPP board and Assoc. meetings. Who knows, you might even find a way of contributing in a positive fashion.

Hey Reni! Can a person who has posted only twice really be considered a quantifiable member of a BMW club?

I am not someone who sits on the sidelines. I join the committees and my wife was a past board member.

I also have been attending all the board meetings and gen'l membership meetings for quite some time. That's the only way you can follow the story and get your own truth. Not the JC faction or Nhb who drummed up that over $3000.00 Sep 7 2014 bash-a-thon declaring false reports of secret meetings blah blah blah.

I too remember the days just up until 1 May 2014, when all the board meetings were held in the library. Typical board meetings consisted of an average of less than 10 lot owners. 4-5 others present were committee chair heads giving their reports.

If you were labeled a trouble maker because you asked specific questions seeking transparency, you may have been yelled at for interrogating them, or reminded that you were just a guest, or got a blank stare from JC, and usually no eye contact or response from the former GM.

What percentage of HPP board posters are uninformed or what percentage that attended the fiasco Sep 7 2014 Special Gen'l Membership meeting were uninformed? Most of those people who took over the Sep 7 meeting are in that large percentage (including the 2 or so yellow tshirt red hat NW people) who rarely attended, if any, board meetings before May 1 2014.

The May 1 2014 Special Meeting was about the DOH complaint for 2 illegal large green waste piles that most members wouldn't have known about had 2 minority board members not called for a Special Meeting. There were a decent amount of attendees due to a dz of volunteer sign holders on the main roads for 2 afternoons.

See if you can find board minutes on line where the previous board voted for the approval of over $60,000 to haul away the green waste after the DOH declined a variance early June. Was there a secret meeting held with only part of the board? What about discussion of getting truck hauling bids for best price? Who hauled it away? Isn't the whole board supposed to be involved in that kind of decision making?

Seek your own truth and if you have time, please volunteer to help.
