Most don't realize how bad our leadership really was.
As stated in other posts, not many attended the Board meetings. Certainly not the ones I attended.
Great news that the Board will soon be meeting weekly . I'll be there...TO LISTEN!

Why would the Board organize meetings on weekday mornings? Does that not preclude the participation of the majority of owners?
Would it not make more sense to hold them in the evening or on weekends?
I note from the agenda for the October 2 meeting that there is no provision for owner input. Perhaps I have answered my own question.

Janet, I just re-read all of your posts.
are you even a member of our association? I'm wondering because you posted the following.
"Had a colleague (who lives on Shower) look me in the eye today and say "If you have to evacuate, give me 24 hours notice. My husband is in construction and we'll get you all out"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You seem to be quite opinionated about our Association . Possibly you are a member and have never attended a Board meeting before.
"People sometimes forget that these are meetings for the Board of Directors and that the lot owners and others in attendance are "Guests" given the courtesy of three minutes each to speak." (Quote from Morgan Sky)
The additional Board meetings are necessary for the board to conduct our business. I for one hope that no owner input is allowed at these additional Board meetings.
I think the figure quoted was $3,000.00 HPPOA just spent for a special "membership" meeting . Members had the floor and kept the floor , The Board members could barely get two words in.
my guess is that given the opportunity to actually have a Board Meeting, where the Board is in charge, we just might be able to see those minutes posted on the website. And those, not able to attend can soon log on and read the minutes for themselves.

Janet,
I just went to the HPPOA website and looked under Activities tab. The calendar for the Activities Center shows that there are no available weeknights the Board could schedule a weekly meeting.
I think it is very important for the Board to meet weekly and applaud their efforts to take care of HPPOA business.
Since there are no available weeknights to meet every week, the board would have to meet during the day. We will all be able to read the minutes since they will be meeting and able to approve the minutes to get them posted.
As Rob says, "assume he best".

I apologize to others on this thread who are here to read about HPP Board. I do not mean to hijack the thread and will refrain from further posting. However, I need to point out that some routine posters often express a desire for those who do not agree with them to be silenced (or go to Board meetings where they will not be allowed to speak).
I was asked to leave after only two substantive posts:

Well Mearth , could you please find a new place to meet ?

I would like to remind everyone that all are welcome on Punaweb to express their opinions, views and even
polite rants -- as long as it is about Puna. Where a person lives is irrelevant as is what they do with their time on this beautiful planet. All of us love Puna. Some of us love HPP. Let's start with that.

She has worked for HPP now for approx. 18 years. She also posted the following................
"It's quite common for the "passionate" people to not want to get involved although they will point out everything they think is wrong......LOUDLY. I think they should "put up or shut up" since they are not so involved that they find out if there is any truth in what it is they are complaining about."
It is not clear to me whether you actually own in HPP and are a member of our Association. If you are, I do hope you take it upon yourself to become better informed for the sake of all of us .
Morgan: Nope, I don't live in HPP (unless you count working 40 daylight hours per week as "living" in HPP). I don't own property in HPP or anywhere else. But I do feel like I am part of the HPP community and would like to offer some responses & corrections to the postings here but I'm sure you can appreciate how my position as an employee makes that a delicate path to tread. I would like to say this though....
Nhb is not the former Board President. I know who Nhb is and it isn't her. It's not even
A HER. But I do understand that there are those who will choose to believe whatever keeps them in their comfort zone and any other reasons for doing so will probably remain a mystery. And
NO, I will not out Nhb.
One last thing.....there is a vacancy on the Board. It's in District 3, but if no one from 3 chooses to put themselves out there, the Board can appoint anyone from ANY District, who submits a candidate form, to fill out the term which expires on June 28, 2015. Sooooooo, if you can attend monthly and special Board meetings and your road fees are paid up and you want to make some positive changes instead of just complaining about what you perceive is wrong...please go here...

I expect to see a LOT of you very soon. [

Jeez, Morgan. I know you do not live in Hpp. I borrowed your quotes as I consider you an EXCELLENT source of knowledge when it comes to HPP. Should have made myself clearer that the proceeding statement , after quoting you,
"It is not clear to me whether you actually own in HPP and are a member of our Association. If you are, I do hope you take it upon yourself to become better informed for the sake of all of us ."
was not directed to you . Good grief , you could write a novel about this place..............
Speaking to the other remarks, I don't care where people live.......but if they VOTE on Association matters I do hope they take it upon themselves to become better informed for the sake of all of us.
The suggestion was not made to leave Punatalk but to leave the BMW club and come join the association meetings instead.
