Whoops our bad. We released a murder suspect with a million dollar bail. Nope, won't comment on how it happened, and oh yea he was out a couple days ago but we're telling you now.

@eigoya: Oh, there are dull moments all right. Somebody's dull-witted cousin got a job in the discharge section of the county hoosegow. It may even have taken more than one dimwit for this to happen, now that I think about it. Plenty "dull" moments in state and county government.

Smith’s release is the fourth time since 2013 a high-profile defendant was released from custody due to an error somewhere in the criminal justice system.

Isn't it wonderful to live in a county where incompetence is the norm... from the Mayor on down.
Why do we keep electing these idiots??? Oh, that's right, the unions run the state (and county) - if you don't have a union endorsement, might as well go pound sand.

Yes. Indeed. Of all kinds.
Maybe we need a thread on "Great moments in State and County government".
Maybe "Politics" section
needs a little action and life.
My inner Mencken and Royko are busy right now, on another project.
Volunteers?
Come on, don't be shy!

According to HNN, the culprit turned himself in, and a high ranking public safety official has apologized:

So District Court "released" Smith to Circuit Court for it's processing, and Hawaii CCC thought "release" meant "let him go free". Seems like with this current group of people no one should ever use the word "release". How 'bout "transfer" to another's custody?

One more time, we're played for the fools that we are.
