If you were an employer - which D5 candidate ?

I didn't think a woman could become an eagle scout.

I thought Scouts were gender-blind as long as you're not gay?

FINALLY this important topic has taken a serious tone.

Campfire Girls are where it's at. now i would vote for a Campfire Girl ANY day before a goosestepping Scout. they even graciously let us boys in on the cookies and camping fun back in '75 (proud card-carrying Bluebird member here).

----------
check it:

"Camp Fire today

Camp Fire is inclusive, open to all youth of any race, creed, religion, gender, national origin, economic status, and sexual orientation.[37]"

"1975, when the organization became coeducational. Camp Fire decided boys and girls should be together in one organization, so they learn to play and work alongside each other and appreciate their similarities and differences in positive ways. Thus they understand that people from either gender can be their teachers, coworkers, supervisors, confidantes, coaches, and friends.[21]"

"Native American culture has served as the inspiration for ceremonial activities and attire, camp and council names, respect for nature and the environment, and the use of symbols by many councils. For Camp Fire, Native American symbolism was a natural outgrowth of an appreciation for differences and cultural inclusiveness. The theory was that such symbolism enabled – and even encouraged – self-reflection and personal growth."

Good morning Everyone,

I guess Athos is showing his age. He sounds like he comes from another time. A good time but he doesn't know they have lowered the bar since then.

These organizations come from a tradition of preparing children for a civic life. I doubt Tiffany was a girl scout or a campfire girl. Forget the gender it comes down to who is closer to those attributes. Who is going to make a better councilperson and be a good citizen and model these attributes for the citizens of the district. One who is embroiled in legal turmoil or one that has a clean record and when you look over his shoulder you see an entire group of people that the clique in Puna knows nothing about?

I hear Tiffany is an atheist. She might say different. But if she is an atheist how will she be able to cross her heart and say the pledge alliance which is done at every council meeting ? Will she excuse herself and go to the bathroom? Or will she just, close her eyes and cross her two fingers behind her back, and tell everyone on her blog that she didn't mean it when it came to the GOD part? [Big Grin]

Inquiring minds want to know. Everyone have a WILD and WONDERFUL Wednesday.

If she does, is there anyone who would volunteer to hide in the far stall to be sure a private, sexist (woman only) atheist meeting does not take place? For the good of the community?

Thanks, Athos. [Smile]
Another Scouting family here. Excellent values list.

This race is between a candidate who lives values vs. one who talks values.

Whose God would you have her pledge to?

The addition of God to the PoA was made in the 50's by a bunch of politicians. It has no purpose or business being a part of the PoA, nor is it legally compulsory to participate in the PoA.
