Safeway Gas $3.75
#11
never had a $100 dollar hold at (Any) gas station I've used. Granted I mostly buy at Safeway, It's super hard for me to get 40 bucks in my tank since I have a 10.5 gallon tank I almost have to be running in on fumes to do it.

I think I have some reward cash this time around, probably get it for 3.65 or so. Sometimes having a car that get 44MPG sucks... can't use very much of the reward money! Smile Maybe I'll fill up the next guys car in line! Big Grin

When we have multiple rewards to use in one fill up, we also take in the gas can for the mower gas and get a discount on that too.

Yeah, my Honda never takes more than 12 gallons at a fill, so it's not that much. Our other vehicle is a Tundra. All the rewards feed its gas hunger, don't waste them on my car.

Don't use your debit card to buy gas! And by the way, I feel ya'll in Hawaii should see a big drop soon as we did here in Alabama. It went from $3.19 in August to $2.72 now. I sure hope the lower Puna folk get a price break if they have to commute over Kilauea!

Yes, I've used rewards too, but once I was waiting until I had an almost empty tank & Safeway deleted my awards at the end of the month. They don't do it all the time though??? Below is the link I watch.

don't use your debit card to buy gas? That's the only way you will get cheap safeway gas, as they charge an extra 20 cents per gallon if you use your credit card. I have hawaiian miles & discover cards -- did the math, you'll get a better value if you fill up on a debit card then any reward card will give you.

I had to ask; what car gets 44 MPG?

I get 40 in my Ford C Max, 14 on a good day with my Land Rover jungle jalopy. Guess which one I use my reward points on!

I used to have a 1985 Honda Civic CRX that got 49 MPG. My friend had an older VW Rabbit diesel that got better gas mileage than I did, and back then diesel was less expensive than gasoline, so that got rubbed into my face both ways.

Makes a person wonder, WTF happened?

MY car is a Toyota Echo AKA Yaris. It's a small 1.5 L gas engine no hybrid. Some only get about high 30's but mine gets 44 routinely. But I clean the MassAirFlow sensor and air filter routinely. Good Numbers to the computer helps a lot for Millage.
