I would have replied sooner but having problems loading puna Web each page has to be reloaded about 50 times. Thanks for the suggestions and info. How many tigers should I get? LOL. Neighbors 1 acre lot crammed from front to back and spilling over. I talked to HPP HA and was told the owner was a hoarder and over the years collected junk and that COH fines him daily till it's cleaned up but he moved to the mainland so he doesn't care. One suggestion you guys forgot. Maybe I should help them salvage and remove it all. The punji stick idea is close to something I thought of. I was thinking of putting spike strips out on their trail so they can get nailed in the feet.

Thanks for letting me know about the booby traps. I figured a person had the right to do whatever it takes to protect their own property. In Washington state I can shoot them as long as I drag them in the house and put a weapon in their hand. Of course I would never want to do that unless they were trying to physically harm someone. How about the helping to salvage the stuff since that's what's creating the problem. The lot owner split and ain't coming back is what I was told because he has $$$$$ in fines for the junk on his lot.

He probably thought he had a gold mine in parts, but too lazy to pull off and catalog, but then again felt it all was worth more than the cost of scrap metal per ton, and hence the mess. If you do take on the task of hauling out, find a hauler or flat deck tow company that will work with you per ton on hauling to subtract from the per ton price the scrapper is paying, and if they take vehicles without paperwork. If they don't take them w/o paperwork, ask what metal they would take as in the parts off of the car to lighten as much as you can. Good luck!

Tough situation.
Whether or not the lot owner split, I would never take the stuff without his written permission, as that is still criminal trespass and theft same as it is for the scum crossing your lot.

Besides, you still have the problem that thieves have gotten very familiar with your place.

I too would think seriously about ditching this lot and buying one in a better neighborhood, before you throw good money after bad. Arrange to keep your kit home on hold until you have a new place and permits, so that you don't lose that investment.

A caretaker is a fine idea except that there's no permitted dwelling on the land, so it will be an illegal occupancy with no waste disposal. Depending on the other neighbors, that might not matter. Right now there is a good pool of caretakers to draw from with displaced people.

I assume his lot is facing a road on the next block over? Put a sign on your gate saying the ABANDONED empty lot with all the scrap metal has easy access at #123 Pupu St. (whatever the real address is) and that you have installed hidden game cameras on your lot to video anyone entering your property.

How about a big tall fence around my property anybody know of a good inexpensive fence builder. I'd search the archives expect I'm still having problems with getting the pages to load and it's gotten worse took about a 1/2 hour to get to get this page to load.

Sorry about speed, but use search and type rock wall contractors in the building section and quite a few will pop up to research. Tried to cut and past multiple postings but could not.
Edit to add cost I saw was approximate 10-15 dollars a foot.
