As for Trip Advisor, they have been sued numerous times for this type of thing, albeit most of the suits are smaller scale - say a individual hotel or restaurant, not an entire area. Outside of the US, the plantiffs have prevailed. In the US, not as much. But the lawsuits have also been against the individual posters and that is where the suits did prevail.

Yes indeed, when we allow these threads to be hijacked the terrorists win.

I vote for opening up Pahoa Road too.

And a party in Pahoa.

That's great news, though I'll still shop at P.A.P.

Went to Kaleo's tonight to pick up take out and the place was jamming. They have expanded their parking lot and it was full. Even the side wings inside the restaurant were nearly full.

Lava is not killing Pahoa. The hysterical response of the state to the lava is killing Pahoa.

Here's a little heads up for those who are not in the tourist industry or do not have much contact with tourists:

Puna is special, we live here so it becomes the norm and we don't always notice. Tourists, especially those who stay for a few days or so in vacation rentals in general, go back to all locations on this planet with aloha to share. A reoccuring theme is they feel rejuvenated, deeply relaxed and moved by the aloha and beauty. I send a dozen or so folk to Uncle Roberts for the Weds night farmers market and I never hear the end of it. These good folk go back out into the world with a renewed sense of fun, relaxation and aloha.

Pahoa may look like an old run down town, but it has an immeasurable amount of soul.

I have a home in Hawaiian Beaches, which I will be at 12/1-12/9. On the mainland, I am an event planner. Handling licensing, layouts, and all aspects to put together large festivals. I would happily help local businesses if they are interested in putting together a festival. Please just let me know!

Lava Tree Monument, btw, was devastated by Hurricane Iselle. I was closed when I drove by it a week ago, but it may be open by December.

Honestly, it might be a low priority to spend money on fixing the damage, in case the lava inundates it. It's in one of the possible paths.

Well, once the lava cuts off Highway 130, you will not be able to visit any of those things from Leilani Estates without great difficulty. Even before the lava, you picked a most inconvenient touring base for the attractions you named.

I bumped the topic. Please read it.
