I really don't understand her motives for most of her postings but they are definitely not helping the businesses, people, or the tourists of Puna.
My suggestion for those so willing, is to post accurate info and refute with facts posts like hers that paint a very different image of what is really going on in Puna.

Kathy has updated some of her posts to indicate that the end of the world won't be happening in the next few weeks
She has also advised readers that the situation is fluid here, that Pahoa does not appear to be in as much potential danger as it was a few months ago, and that any travelers should check the official sites for the latest updates. Several other Puna residents have posted updated comments that are less "gloom and doom" then Kathy's original statements and they are providing additional context to the current advice being offered to visitors.

For all you avid Puna promoters let me ask you a question. Did KathyB make any libelous statements, or did she state her opinion based on information that was and is publicly available? Do people have the right to state their opinions -- as long as they're not libelous mind you -- here in the United States or not? Do people who reside in other communities have the right to express their views of reality regardless of the consensual reality the community in question might hold? Do you think that everyone in the world experiences Puna in way that you do? This forum has certain rules, did Kathyb violate any of those rules? Is Puna a place that allows people to exercise freedom of expression, or do we have to watch what we say at the risk being rat-packed? I don't agree with every word Kathyb utters, but I will defend her right to say what she thinks as long as she stays within the limits of the law and the rules of this forum. Personally speaking, I reject all forms of tyranny. I think our time would be better spent trumpeting Puna's virtues rather than beating up on someone with views other than our own. Just what kind of world do you want to live in anyway? I certainly hope it's not a my Puna right or wrong. Out in West Texas there's a conservative town called Lubbock. It's affectionately known as Lubbock or Leave it. They're not all that interested in attracting tourist dollars, as they have oil wells.

I agree, she has every right to do so. I and others also have the right to remark upon that.
It's not a question of love it or leave it - she does not even live here in Puna.
Judging by the inaccuracy of what she writes, she does not visit very often.
Easily remedied.

Perhaps you and JohnDW need to re-read her posts on Trip Advisor and then engage your common sense. These are not even remotely opinions of hers, she runs an out right malicious campaign against Puna, in the guise of being an expert sanctioned by the incompetent management of Trip Advisor. They want action on that site, the more reviews and posts the better, doesn't matter where they come from.
KathyH intentionally misleads people, intentionally lies with the intention of frightening people from coming to Puna knowingly damaging businesses. Re-read the post a couple above yours about Lava Tree park.
You consider that an "opinion"? And your common sense says to defend her and to quiet and criticize those who would expose the on going illegal damage she is creating?
