#21
Nanawale - some trees down and power went out about 9PM last night until around 6 this AM. Must have been on one of the same lines as Leilani??

mauka Puna may now be located in an adjacent district. ...what a mess, blanket of leaves and branches to be composted with the mower. canopy tent looks dramatically collapsed and trashed, though closer inspection reveals replacement of 2 poles should do the trick. all calm now, native birds chirping away.

Leilani roads are mostly open now thanks to our CERT and Neighborhood Watch folks. Lower Kahukai just off Leilani Ave. is blocked with lines down and HELCO has it on a pretty long list of repairs to do.

Generally speaking, for me here in Eden Roc, more damage than Iselle. I have a lot of dead Ohia snags here that made it through Iselle but a couple broke last night. I have a 24' fence top rail holding up my TV antenna. I really expected that to break but it seems to have survived. All TV channels were off last night.

Punchline:

By 11 a.m., however, power was restored to the majority of customers on the west side of the island

West side power must be easier to restore, or something.

This was posted in a FB group. Round 2 coming?

HIGH WIND WARNING reissued by NWS. Observations at the higher elevations of the Big Island, mainly above 5000 feet, are indicating sporadic localized warning level wind gusts are still occurring. Thus the warning for the interior Big Island has been reissued by the National Weather Service through noon Sunday. West winds from 45 to 55 mph with gusts over 65 mph are expected, increasing again tonight and shifting northwest 55 to 70 mph with gusts up to 85 mph early Sunday. Winds will diminish during the day on Sunday. Big Island interior winds at below 5000 feet are expected from 20 to 40 mph gusting to 55 mph. Stay safe out there! ~ Meteorologist Malika Dudley

Still no power on 40th in Orchidland (not just us, checked with neighbors). Tried calling HellCo, line is always busy. Has anybody else heard anything?
