OTA tv channels after this storm
#21
Hate the Packers but very fond of Packer fans, some of the friendliest fans anywhere. Problem is I also hate the Cowboys so have a serious dilemma about whom to root for. (Are Cowboy fans as nice as Packer fans?) Either way, it's going to be a great weekend of football. Hope everyone starts getting good reception!

We can usually get the 13's to come in better if we adjust the antenna "just so", but the wind keeps moving it, so it's a futile effort until this wind slows down.

As a Packer fan who watches their games in Hawaii with an OTA antenna (note the Hawaii related qualification), and family in both Green Bay and Dallas, I believe I'm qualified to answer your question punafish.

No.*

*Disclaimer - In high school I fried hamburgers at a Green Bay Dairy Queen for Hall of Fame Quarterback Bart Starr, as well as other "Lombardi Glory Years" players, so my answer may not be entirely objective. But I tried.

Just what I suspected HOTPE, thanks for your not-entirely-objective opinion.

It's going to be a great game, slight Packer advantage if it's 40 below. I take some solace in the knowledge that a team I don't like will lose. Smile

Keeping it Hawaii, go Ducks!

Hi guys,

Terracore--
It's solar powered, putting out 15 watts. That is a tiny power level, but the location in Mt. View spills a signal throughout most of Puna that you can see on this map:
http://www.rabbitears.info/contour.php?appid=1563997&map=Y&contour=N&lppc=N&int=N&pop=N&incpop=&excpop=&z1=N&lprw=N&head=N&asrn=&extras=&cir=&circen=19.56%2C-155.115
I originally had a single channel SD encoder, but I'm switching it out with a 2-channel HD encoder, which means it will be 2 HD channels. I'm a few paychecks out from being able to afford it.

Kenney--
Wow! I'm shocked that they straight up said that about BI! I've seen the market boundary for the ratings drawn for Honolulu to include West Hawai`i, but not East. So that means the ratings for Hilo may indeed mean zero to their sales staff. If it means anything, both new channels will be locally originated, and one will be aggressive with local weather.

I hope to be able to increase power in the future to increase "indoor" antenna reception, but right now I'm counting every amp since we're running off of solar.

I don't have any problems with the 13's. It could be my location in Orchidland or maybe the type of antenna I have.

4-1 and 4-2 still out. Does anyone know where the ABC transmitter broadcasts from? Is it on top of the Hilo Hawaiian hotel?

4.1 & 4.2 transmit from near Rainbow Falls.

Tweeted KITV4 about 4-1 and 4-2 channels being out. They said the transmitter was damaged. They are waiting on parts that "should" be here today.
