How far to the snow?
#11
Mahalo fellow webbers,.

Life is a blessing.so wear a smile.

My wife is a couple months younger than me,we rethink our stories of past and together we typo our way into punaweb, actually she is morethan a couple months younger, but when you reach age 90 a human is allowed to mis type and have odd sentence structures.
In another topic in here this evening some puna webbers are very grumble about what is truth and say BS to my wife, let them say that to her face i say.
No respec for tutu.
Shame shame .

But back to maunakea memories of last century, yes pretty amazing all the science happening on top of mtns.We are so blessed to b able to have this scientific community right herein our own back yards.

So a BIG thanks goes to you Tom.

Sorry, Mimosa, but have to draw the line when it comes to poi. I tried my best but just can't stomach the stuff! The other food is great but rice for breakfast is still a challenge... Wink

Mimosa - You both are more than welcome to take the wheel, just stay off the cell phone Wink

Many thanks for sharing as always! Going to enjoy passing along your stories to everyone on our much less adventurous trek up the mountain tomorrow. At least now there is hot chocolate waiting for us!

Not sure what time you'll be at the VIS, yak, but if it's the evening I definitely recommend taking the time to look through the telescopes the volunteers put out. If it's during the day, have a look through the telescope pointing at the sun. If you're lucky you might see sunspots.

we do not have cell phone, makes our pace maker go crazy and could die when around them,we have printed cards we carry to give to people in store check out lines, asking politely to turn them with in 12 feet of us as we could easily die.

Several seniors in hilo in last 6 weeks with pacemakers have died in stores because inconsiderate ppl yapping away and so we like stay around here a nother 10 or 20 years so our solution is to not make problems, but to inform the users of cell phones that it may cause death and or worse.

So many just have no clue about the adverse affects on sensitive medical devices many of our young age in 90s have.

Tom,this is our dinner time,we grow and make our on poi and rice is plenty and fish,a plenty.

A good diet a simple diet, healthy, allows us to live long and thrive.

Every human has certain enjoyments in dietary nutition for the cells and neurons and this is ours.

Nothing fancy but all balanced and ono liscoius.

Cocoa and craka (Saloon Pilot...da best)! [Smile] Take extra blanket in the car, too.

While we wait for the next "finger" to flow in Puna (from Tutu Pele), Poliahu has shown her presence. Mai poina ole, the two sisters! Auwe na ho'i e! However, such a beautiful sight!

Mimosa and Tutu Mimosa, did you ever have to bathe on the front porch, with one tea pot of boiling water in the galvanized tub? [Smile] Fond memories, indeed. The ones who disrespect must be forgiven (sorry, O/T, but aloha for Tutu Mimosa).

How far to the snow? Please let us know...

Mahalo ke Akua for all of our blessings.

JMO.

I can see spots looking at the sun without a telescope!

Anyway, I enjoy looking at the snow, but from far away. Hmmmmm....maybe Hawaiian snow is warmer?

To quote the sign at Mauna Kea Visitors Center "the road will NOT be open today. Bummer." But just across Saddle, Mauna Loa access road was an easy paved drive up. Several good patches of snow by the observatory and amazing views of Mauna Kea and Maui as well.

Winter is just a short drive and movie soundtrack away! Do you want to build a snowman? Wink
